Note: This is not a sponsored post, I just really like Rupi’s work.
On October 3rd, 2017, Rupi Kaur released her long-awaited poetry collection the sun and her flowers. It’s her second poetry collection after milk and honey which was published in 2014. Here are 7 reasons why you should buy this collection if you haven’t already:
1. Because she’s a UW alumnus, and alumni are awesome!
Rupi graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BA in English in 2015. And that’s enough reason to read the book, case closed, goodbye (jk).
2. Imagine how nice this cover would look on your desk or bookshelf
It’s so pretty! The cover gives off spring vibes that’ll definitely brighten up the grey winter skies coming soon
3. We all need a break from midterms and deadlines
Let poetry unwind your soul…
4. To get over a breakup
Sometimes I wish I had boyfriend just so we could breakup, and then I’d mourn his loss with a Rupi Kaur poem. That’s not weird is it?
5. It’s ‘milk and honey’, with more content
Seriously people, if you haven’t read Rupi’s debut poetry collection, ‘milk and honey’, what are you doing with your life? Read it! Now!
6. There’s a poem for every emotion
The book is split into sections: wilting, falling, rooting, rising, and blooming. It covers topics like love, depression, immigration, and body positivity. Get ready to be hit with all the ‘feels’, you’ll be on an emotional rollercoaster all the way to the end.
7. Because I said so!
*jk* If I haven’t convinced you already, I don’t know what will (maybe this awesome picture of Rupi as a flower goddess). But seriously people, you need to read this book!
‘the sun and her flowers’ is available on Amazon, Indigo and the campus bookstore. It is also available online and in bookstores everywhere.
