Wrigley’s new Extra Refreshers is a sugar-free gum with a long-lasting flavor. The flavor I tried out was Spearmint, but it also comes in Tropical Mist and Polar Ice.
The container the gum comes in is a rectangular shape with a lid on top. The lid looks like it has two openings, one large and the other small, but it’s only one relatively small one. Even though the opening in the lid is fairly smaller than expected, it’s not hard to get the gum out of the container.
The gum comes in chewy squares that are soft to bite into and way more dense than Wrigley’s stick gum. It takes about 150 chews for the texture of the gum to become rubbery, but the flavor outlasts the texture buy about a dozen or so chews.
It’s hard to blow bubbles with only one piece of gum, but two pieces are enough. However, the bubbles normally tend to stay smaller than other bubble blowing gum. (If you let two pieces get rubbery, then you can blow some pretty decent sized bubbles.)
The flavor of the gum itself is very good. The minty flavor is very strong, so much so that it reminds me of the 5 Gum Spearmint flavor. Also, like the 5 Gum Spearmint flavor, the taste can sometimes be too much if you breathe in cold air or drink ice water. The Spearmint flavor came on so strong that I didn’t realize the gum was sugarfree until I looked at the packaging more closely.
After the gum becomes rubbery and most of the Spearmint flavor goes away, the gum doesn’t taste gross like some other flavors or brands do. When it loses its flavor, the gum actually tastes kind of sweet, not like the sharp mint it was before.
Overall, I really like this gum and would 10/10 recommend to a friend.
