It’s that time of year when the leaves begin to fall, the days get shorter, and of course, the weather gets colder. Now, although I love the holiday season, I absolutely despise the cold. After experiencing 19 years of the Pennsylvania cold, I think I’ve nailed the essential products for keeping you warm this winter! Here are some of my top picks!

1. Chenille Throw Blanket

One of my favorite products EVER is this incredible Target throw blanket. If you are looking for a throw blanket that is going to keep you warm and stay super soft, this one’s for you. I’ve owned these blankets for almost 3 years now, and they are still perfectly intact. Unlike some materials, the chenille stays soft, and the material does not get matted. During cold nights it’s a perfect addition to your bed for extra warmth but won’t overheat because it’s lightweight.

Currently available in 4 colors, and retails for $24.99 on Target’s website.

2. 32 Degrees Heat Tee’s

Traveling to class can be almost painful during this time of year. With the mix of the cold wind and the dropping temperature, you’re going to want to layer up when going outside. This year I was introduced to these layering pieces which are a game-changer. The brand 32 Degrees makes heat tees that are designed for comfortable wear in the cold. They look no different than an average tee shirt, but they trap in the body heat. This is perfect for students because they look no different than a regular shirt, and they won’t make you sweat when in class.

Currently available in black or white at Costco or the 32 Degrees website for a pack of 2 for $15.99.

3. Hot Hands Hand Warmer

If you are someone who struggles with your hands getting cold from being outside for long periods of time, this product will change your life. Hot hands are hand warmers on the go. The packets come with two each that fit into a jacket pocket easily. You simply unwrap them and begin shaking the little pouches of beads to activate the heat. After a couple of minutes, you’ll never have to worry about chilly hands!

Currently available on Amazon, retailing for $6.99 for a pack of 10.

4. Fleece-Lined Leggings

Comfort is everything during this time of year. There’s nothing more frustrating than wearing clothes designed for the cold, such as leggings or sweatpants, just for them to be thin. Through me and my roommate’s shared hatred of the cold, I’ve learned from her about the beauty of fleece-lined leggings. These leggings are incredibly soft and warm. If you have issues with your clothing feeling too thin where the wind runs right through it, I’d highly consider these leggings. It’s basically like blanket-lined pants, and who wouldn’t want that?

Currently available on Old Navy’s website in 5 colors from XS- X4 and retailing for $22.99 (currently on sale for $15.99).

5. Bootie Slippers

If you’re looking for a super comfortable and easy-to-slip-on shoe for the colder season, I’ve got you covered. These cozy short bootie slippers are perfect for those days when you don’t want to worry about what shoes to wear. With thick fleece lining on the inside and suede outside these booties are sure to keep you covered in the cold. They’re also super cute and trendy!

Currently available 4 colors from sizes 6 to 11 retailing between $28-$35.

Listen, the cold can be brutal as this time of year begins to emerge. I know for me, it can lessen my motivation to go outside, because of the frigid temperatures. Hopefully, these affordable products will help you as they have helped me through the cold weather. Remember that this weather only lasts so long and that there are so many great things about this time of year.

Wishing you all the luck with these next few chilly months. Don’t forget to bundle up!
