In 2016 we got colourful food, avocado everything, and zoodles. Now 20 days into 2017, we have been graced with the healthy trend of Buddha Bowls. Yes, you may have heard of them before, but that just means you’re ahead of the curve! Congrats! Also called “macrobowls” because of the healthy macronutrients that the contain, Buddha Bowls are colourful bundles of joy that you will be dying to Instagram.

Buddha Bowls typically contain a grain base (rice, legumes, quinoa, etc.), topped with loads of veggies, sauce, and protein. They are easy to make and also allow for chef creativity. Need an excuse to use all your veggies before they go bad, and are tired of making stir-frys? Buddha Bowls are your answer! They can easily fit any dietary needs making this trend one worth trying.

Here are five recipes that are calling out to me:

1. The Big Vegan Bowl

2. Sweet Potato Chickpea Buddha Bowl

3. Winter Buddha Bowl

4. Peanut Tofu Buddha Bowl

5. Cilantro Lime Shrimp Bowl

Stick to your new year’s resolution of eating healthy and give these a try. You’ll be full without any empty calories and won’t even need a late night snack to tide you over until the morning.
