Tell me about yourself and all the things you do at Western.
I moved to London when I was three and have been living here ever since. I decided to stay in my hometown and go to Western so I could have the balance of both living in residence (as well as having a student house) and having my parents’ support nearby.  Science has always interested me, even in grade school, and I decided in grade twelve that it was something that I wanted to be involved in for the rest of my life.Â
What are you most excited for this year with HCWO?
Oh wow! What am I not excited for?  I can’t wait for the first meeting with all of the HerCampus members. Seeing all the old members again and meeting the new ones! I can’t wait for this new team to take hold of our Pink Level Chapter!Â
How did you get involved with HC?
I actually found out about HerCampus when my friend, who was a writer for HerCampus, asked me to be a HerCampus Cutie. After that, I followed their Facebook page and I read almost every article they released! When they were recruiting new writers the next fall, I wanted to join but was a bit hesitant. I had limited experience with writing, since I’m a science student, but I wanted to give it a try because it interested me.  I finally got the courage to apply and they gave me the chance to start writing! I have loved every moment since!
What’s your favourite HCWO article?
My favourite article is “The Worst Friend I Ever Had” by Sarah Botelho. I believe it’s an article any person can relate to and learn from. Although you may consider someone to be a “friend”, they may not always be one. This article taught me how important it is to surround yourself with real friends that actually make you feel good because it can really affect your life!
What did you like most about your major?
I love learning about the human body! I think it’s incredible learning how all the small processes contribute to make our bodies work. What I learn in my classes never fails to amaze me!
What was your favourite thing to do in London?
I love sitting in the downtown patios at night. London can be very pretty; especially in the summer!
What did you do this summer?
I stayed in London for the most of the summer. I had a job here which kept me busy for the most part along with taking some summer courses. This was also the first summer in four years where my younger sister was in town, so we spent a lot of time together before she left for school in the fall.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
I absolutely love playing video games, ever since I was young. I remember I used to be obsessed with watching my older brother play Super Mario 64 and eventually I started playing. It has been one of those childhood hobbies I never grew out of (and probably never will). Recently I’ve been playing a lot of games from The Legend of Zelda and Fire Emblem series.Â
What’s your favourite thing to do in your spare time?
When I’m feeling motivated, I love to do kickboxing classes at the Rec Center! It’s a great way to relieve stress and get an awesome workout. If I’m having one of those lazy days though, I’ll play some video games instead!
Where is the best/last place you have travelled to?
Oh man…I haven’t travelled all summer but the last place I travelled to was the Dominican Republic last winter break, which was a lot of fun! The tropical climate was definitely a nice getaway from the Canadian winter!
