List 3 fun facts about you, 2 passions and your #1 motivation:

Facts!

  1. I am an avid Pokemon Go player and recently attended the first-ever Canadian event in Montreal.

  2. I am a mother to an angel baby who was miscarried in February 2019.

  3. I work at the King’s Library and love my job more than anything!

Passions!

  1. Watching the Food Network.

  2. Writing!

#1 Motivation!

  1. The number one thing that motivates me is the thought of my future and how I want to teach and inspire young minds.

It’s official, I’m obsessed with your poems on Instagram. Tell me more about them:

I have been writing poetry for as long as I can remember as an outlet to express my emotions. I used to be such a Tumblr girl but switched to posting them on Instagram just a couple of years ago. I definitely need to write more poetry but if you read them, you’ll notice that the majority of them were written out of sad or dark periods of my life and I have yet to master the art of happy poetry.

How have you changed throughout your years at Western?

I have undoubtedly had a crazy couple of years at Western. I started my first year late after attending and subsequently dropping out of uOttawa in my first year, I became engaged, fell pregnant and then had said man charged for domestic violence this past year. My university experience thus far has been wild, but not in the party-sense, rather in the ‘grow-up all of a sudden’ sense. I have grown as a person, as an advocate and I believe as a writer due to the hardships I have faced.

What is some advice you would have told your first-year self?

Take Psychology 1000 rather than Sociology 1020. Also, stop trying to do a 4-year degree in 3 years. Trust me, halfway through your second year, after you’ve done a full course load in both the fall, winter and summer semesters, you will burn out and it will not be good.

It’s your second year at Her Campus! How is Her Campus different from other clubs?

On the outside, I totally understand how Her Campus Western looks a bit like a feminist gang of man haters, but really, I have never met a group of such dynamic, bold, outspoken women. The group is very inclusive, non-radical and honestly, super loving. Everyone in the group appreciates one another and celebrate each others successes. We also have super awesome events where we play Cards Against Humanity and eat a lot of food. What’s not to love!?

What article topics can we expect from you this year?

I am currently working on one about the Pokemon Go event I attended, but I am also going to be gearing my articles this year to more real-life stuff that I have experienced. I love to talk about all things relationships, mental health and other taboo topics so don’t worry, there will absolutely be an article or five that are sex-related.
