Shawn Hook is a Canadian singer and performer from British Columbia. We all know him very well for his dashing smile, entertaining personality, passionate voice and dynamic performances. Hook is very popular for his catchy hit songs “Sound of Your Heart” and “Reminding Me” featuring Vanessa Hudgens. My favorite songs of Hook’s are the passionate “Two Hearts Set on Fire” and upbeat “Good Days.”

Virginia To Vegas is an American singer and performer that grew up in Guelph, Ontario which is just down the road from London. We all know him for his soulful angelic voice, charismatic dance moves, and positively adoring personality. Virginia To Vegas is very well known for his charming singing in “We Are Stars” and his passionate voice in one of my favorite songs “Beautiful.”

Hook and Virginia To Vegas made a very memorable trip to our campus at the Wave. I am positive that they both will never forget this intimate experience interacting with fans and all of the fans will never forget this fascinating intimate concert experience either.

My friend and I were very early to the show because we wanted to make sure that we would get the front row. When we were outside the venue we met two very sweet girls waiting in line, and the four of us got front row together. We were enthusiastically waiting for the show to start.

Virginia To Vegas sang on stage first and opened up with “Selfish” which was a very upbeat and catchy song. It was so fascinating to see his dance moves and hear him sing front row. Virginia To Vegas held my hand and sang to my friend and I numerous times throughout his performance. We had the opportunity to hear many unreleased songs.

One of my favorite unreleased songs of his would be “Just Friends.” “Just Friends” is a very relatable song and it makes you want to instantly dance along to it. Virginia To Vegas will be releasing his unreleased songs that he played and many more this spring/summer. Check out his website here for announcements of his new upcoming music.

Virginia To Vegas told all of us he has not performed a show in a very long time due to mental health issues, so he was very appreciative of all of us as an audience. He seemed like a very down to earth and empathetic singer. Virginia To Vegas gave very amusing and compassionate advice to the audience between his songs.

The crowd was chanting for him to sing “Lights Out” every time there was a break between songs but he told us that he wanted to save that song for the very end of his performance. Of course, it ended the performance with a “bang”  and the entire audience was powerfully singing along to the song. It was a very profound moment being front row and hearing the chorus sung by every single person in the audience.

Everyone was chanting Shawn Hook’s name as he was about to enter the stage.  Hook started his performance with “Never Let Me Let You Go.” Everyone was belting out the lyrics as he was prancing around the stage holding different fans’ hands as he sang back to us. Hook sang to me and held my hand multiple times which was an engaging and unique moment that I have never experienced at a concert before. Hook playfully joked around that he wanted to put on an unbelievable but also lengthy show for us, even though it was a Thursday night and most of us had 8:30 AM classes the next day.

At one point, he told the audience that before the concert started he could hear two ladies in the front row talking about the song “Reminding Me” that he sings with Vanessa Hudgens. Ironically, it was my friend and I talking about how much we adored the song and how it was very sentimental to us. Hook even joked around with the audience that maybe he could bring out Hudgens to sing the song on stage with him. Check out Hook’s charming music video of “Reminding Me” with the gorgeous Hudgens here.

To end off Hook’s performance he of course sang “Reminding Me” just like he promised my friend and I that he would. He played it on the piano while he was singing and the jam-packed audience was harmonizing along to his voice. It was delightful to see and hear the emotion while Hook was singing and playing the piano.

Even though the audience was overcrowded, the concert was a very intimate experience due to this being the smallest concert venue I have ever been to. I really enjoyed being up close and personal with both the singers because they would ask us questions during their performances. Virginia to Vegas and Hook were very personable and amusing with the love advice they gave the audience.

As my friends and I were leaving the concert, Hook’s guitarist thanked us all for coming to the show and gave us each a Shawn Hook guitar pick. All in all, it was an incredible concert experience from being front row with my friends, having Hook and Virginia to Vegas hold my hand, Hook acknowledging that I adored his song “Reminding Me” and being gratefully given a Shawn Hook guitar pick by his guitarist. This is by far one of my favorite concerts that I have been to. Even though the audience was overflowing with fans it was a very intimate experience that I have never experienced before. I definitely want to experience an enjoyable concert like this hopefully soon in the future.
