My Top 5 Favourite Products’ Dupes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

Here are my top 5 favorite products that I absolutely adore, but I think they are a bit pricey for what they are worth. So, I have tried out many different dupes for them. After many different misses, I have finally found one amazing hit for each of my favorite products!

1. Frends Headphones

Want a chic pair of jewelry inspired headphones, but can’t afford to spend $250 on it? A dupe I have for you is the Blanou BH868 Headphones. They’re $58 from AliExpress, and the sound quality is amazing! The Blanou headphones also have many different colours which are comparable to the Frends headphones. Go check them out!

2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

I am an Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation fan, but the price of $46 is too much for everyday use, or times I would only need to wear my foundation for a couple of hours. However, I recently found the perfect dupe for this foundation. It is the L’oreal Infallible Pro-Matte foundation. This dupe does not oxidize and sinks really well into my skin while covering all of my blemishes and uneven skin tone. The staying power is slightly less than the Double wear foundation, but if you spray a little setting spray on top, it will be an exact dupe.

3. Trigger Point Grid Foam Roller

I absolutely love foam rolling because it helps my muscles relax and prevents injuries. However, getting a great foam roller comes with a big price tag. The Trigger Point Grid Foam Roller, the best grid foam roller, costs $60! This foam roller is amazing, but it is pricey, especially for people who aren’t sure if they like foam rolling. The dupe I have for this product is the Tone It Up Foam roller which is half the price, $30. The depth of the lines and the shape and spacing of the grids are extremely similar to the Trigger Point Grid Foam Roller.

4. FitBit

Having a FitBit is the “new thing” now. I love using it to track my steps and my sleep. I also love how I can compete with friends and family to see who was the most active! However, it comes at a high price point of $100. Many people may not think it’s worth $100 to spend on a fitness tracker if their phone has that function already. However, the Xiaomi Mi Band is extremely similar to the FitBit, and costs under $20. The only advantage that FitBit has over Xiaomi is the mobile app. Xiami’s app is not as great as FitBit’s app, but there are many other great fitness tracker apps that are free on the app store. These apps are compatible with any types of Fitness trackers, including the Mi Band.

5. MacBook

Let’s be real here. There can never be a real dupe for a MacBook, but this is the closest thing I have found. For my first 3 years of university, I used a MacBook Pro. But then I realized that it was too heavy to carry around in my bag everyday, I had no real use for the CD/DVD player, and most of my work was done on Google Docs. So, I decided to get Toshiba’s Chromebook 2. This Chromebook is extremely light—comparable to the MacBook Air, and hardly takes up any space in my bag. The speed is just as fast, if not faster, than my MacBook. All of my assignments are collaborative work with different groups, so it is easy to open Google Docs and just start working. The display and sound quality is much better than my MacBook, but my MacBook was the 2012 version, so compared to the current graphics and sound of the new MacBooks, it would be quite similar. So, instead of spending over $1,000 on a MacBook, think about investing in this Chromebook for only $400!
