Campus Celebrity: Paige O’Grady

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

If you’re ever on campus doing anything, you’ve probably seen Paige O’Grady. Paige is involved in just about everything at Laurier, as well as working two jobs and making Honour Roll; talk about a full schedule! We sat down with Paige to find out a little bit more about the girl behind the day planner.

Program: BBAYear: 3rdHometown: Lively, OntarioRelationship Status: TakenZodiac Sign: Taurus

Growing up did you know that you wanted to pursue business?

Growing up I actually wanted to be three things: a firefighter, a comedian, and a Dairy Queen worker. So far I have only accomplished one of those goals.

Does being a Dairy Queen worker live up to your expectations?

Oh it exceeds my expectations daily! I can make a cone look EXACTLY like the picture… talk about a transferable skill, am I right?

As well as working, you are heavily involved on campus. What are some of the things that keep you busy?

I’ve been an active member of Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity for three years, and I sat on the executive board for two. I am the Marketing Executive for Her Campus, I sit on the executive board of the Laurier Vegan and Vegetarian association, as the Vice President of Programming and Finances. I worked as a note taker for students with disabilities in my second year at Laurier, which was a really fulfilling job. I’m also on Deans Honour Roll!  I’m also a general member of: Laurier Marketing Association, Laurier AdHawk, the Laurier Ski and Snowboard Club, the Communication Student Association and I was in the Women’s Athletic Association in first year! Oh and I also work at Laurier! I’m currently on my second work term at the Laurier MBA office, as the Digital Marketing Coordinator.

You are crazy busy! Do you have any go to organization/time management techniques that you follow?

Yes! I use my planner to organize everything. I need to write literally every aspect of my life down, or else I will forget! I honestly don’t know what I would do if I lost it or didn’t have one, I would be a wreck! I also rely on my iPhone a lot (old faithful iPhone 4S) and my Google drive. You will never find me without my phone and/or laptop in hand.

What do you like about being involved at Laurier?

I’m definitely the kind of person who goes crazy if they don’t have a jam-packed schedule! I like all of the routine that comes with being so involved, and everything I do has taught me transferable skills to use in the future! I’ve also met a ton of awesome Golden Hawks who have made my time here at Laurier amazing.

What advice would you give to someone that is looking to get involved?

A lot of people forget about the Get Involved Fairs that happen every semester, always go to them! I still go to every one (and not just for all the free stuff)! It’s a great way to get informed about everything in one convenient location. Also, pretty much every group at Laurier has a Facebook page or group, so if you think you might be interested in joining something, like or join them on Facebook to stay in the know!

What’s your go to Starbucks order?

A grande dark roast with no room!

Are you a dog or cat person?

I prefer dogs, but I love all animals!

If you could bring one thing to a desert island what would it be?

Someone to keep me company.

Paige is one busy bee and a true Golden Hawk! If you see her on campus stop to say hi! You never know, she could have the hook up with that club you’ve been dying to join!
