Campus Cutie: Eimear Fitzpatrick

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Meet this week’s campus cutie, Eimear Fitzpatrick! In her fourth year of study, you’ll regularly see Eimear around campus volunteering, running events for the Health Science Students’ Association, and playing intramurals. She’s down to earth and is the epitome of a kick-ass Golden Hawk. We’re obsessing over this collegiates style, beauty, and drive.

Name: Eimear Fitzpatrick

Hometown: Kingston, Ontario

Relationship Status: Single

Favourite colour?

Blue.

Favourite accessory?

I love rings. There are two that I wear every day, but I am always buying more!

Favourite song?

My favourite song of all time would have to be “American Pie” by Don Maclean.

How would you describe your ideal guy?

I look for someone that is driven and has a good sense a humor.

How do you pronounce your name?

Ee-mer, haha!

What was it that made you choose Laurier?

I chose Laurier for the health sciences program, and I love the small campus and tight-knit community here. I came to visit a friend that was in her first year in communications here when I was in grade 12 and I fell in love; by the end of the weekend, I knew I had to come here!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I haven’t quite decided what I want to do after I graduate. One of the great things about health sciences is that it opens the door to a lot of great opportunities. I definitely want to pursue a career within the healthcare field, but I’m not sure exactly where this degree will take me yet.

What clubs or extracurricular activities are you involved in at Laurier?

I have been lucky enough to be part of the Health Sciences Students’ Association since my first year at Laurier. I am also involved in intramural dodgeball and soccer this year; I wouldn’t exactly be considered a great asset to either team but I really enjoy it.  I am also hoping to volunteer more within the Waterloo community.

You’re involved in so many different things at Laurier; what would be your advice to first years about getting involved and choosing clubs?

My advice is to find clubs that fit your interests and absolutely get involved! Laurier really does have a club for just about everything, and there are also always opportunities to start new clubs. Joining clubs and volunteering on campus are two of the best ways to meet new people and really make the most of your time at Laurier. I have met some of my closest friends through on-campus clubs, and getting involved at Laurier is the best way to experience the close-knit community.

If your friends were to give us one word to describe your drunken alter ego, what would they say?

Probably “embarrassing.”

What’s your favourite bar or spot in Waterloo?

Phil’s, 110%!

What is your favourite Laurier memory so far?

Really tough to choose just one, but I was lucky enough to go on a VIDA trip organized through Laurier where we set up clinics in isolated areas of Costa Rica. I was on the trip with a group of about 20 Laurier students; it was an absolutely incredible experience!

What would be your idea of a perfect date?

Going skating and getting hot chocolate.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of the year, what would it be?

Probably chicken, because I am not great in the kitchen so that’s pretty much all I eat now anyway!

What are three things on your bucket list?

Skydiving, bungee jumping, and flying a kite.

Well, Eimear, we wish you all the best in your last year of studies and can’t wait to see what you have in store for the future, because we know it will be amazing!

Wilfrid Laurier

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
