Ever since the first show on the Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona, where hundreds of thousands of Swifties watched the opening night from blurry TikTok livestreams, I have been tuning into each showâs livestreams to watch the surprise song acoustic section. This list is basically just a collection of my favourite Taylor Swift songs (other than the songs I have lucked out on that have made it on the official setlistâshoutout âMy Tears Ricochetâ and âLong Liveâ) that I would die to hear live! The following list is in order of the tour, not necessarily by my preference!
1. âCowboy Like Me feat. Marcus Mumfordâ and âWhite Horseâ
This was a tough loss close to the start of the tour. Where I live, my time zone is EST, so all of Taylorâs West Coast shows were very difficult to stay awake for. Unfortunately, I had to sleep through this. Waking up to the news that Taylor played my favourite song on Evermore with Marcus Mumford was quite traumatic to be honest.
2. âDeath By A Thousand Cutsâ and âCleanâ
This is Gracie Abramsâ fault, unfortunately, and I think Jack Antonoff, too if I remember correctly. Both made requests for these songs and both ruined me. The worst part is that I have now lost both songs twice because Taylor just loves to play them so much!
3. âThe Great War feat. Aaron Dessnerâ and âYouâre On Your Own Kidâ
There will never be enough words to explain the pain this combination caused me. Both are songs I adore so much. YOYOK has truly changed lives and I can only dream that I will get to experience it live one day. Sorry Floridians but what did yâall do to deserve this?
4. âGetaway Car feat. Jack Antonoffâ and âMaroonâ
Do I even have to explain this one? Not only was THE Jack Antonoff there, but they played one of the most iconic reputation songs to exist and topped it off by playing one of the best songs from Midnights! They even had the audacity to do it without me there. Thankfully, âMaroonâ has been repeated a handful of times now and I have hope that I may get to hear it at one of my shows.
5. âHoly Groundâ and âFalse Godâ
âFalse Godâ is another one of my favourite songs ever, especially on Lover, and hearing it on piano?! Absolutely life-changing. It is a tough tossup between this performance and her 2019 SNL performance but both are equally iconic and incredible.
6. âI Wish You Wouldâ and âthe lakesâ
Nothing but perfection from these two. âThe Lakesâ was originally my favourite from folklore, so it definitely made my heart full to hear her perform it in person for the first time. It was a very tough loss for me.
7. âSeven feat. Aaron Dessner…againâ and âThe Story Of Usâ
Aaron Dessner needs to be banned from the Eras Tour (unless I am there) because how are the best songs always chosen when he is there? I would pay an embarrassing amount of money to be in the presence of these two. Give them a guitar and a microphone and history is made.
8. âDear Johnâ and âDaylightâ
Again, does this need an explanation? Perfection. Iconic. Broke my heart.
9. âIvyâ, âI miss you I’m sorry feat. Gracie Abramsâ and âCall It What You Wantâ
Now this was just cruel if I am being honest. Ohio got three songs, one being a cover with Gracie Abrams?!!! And she did it on Canada Day. The audacity. But I loved it. It was amazing and I am \ hoping this could happen again during Toronto night three.
10. âRight Where You Left Me feat. Aaron Dessnerâ and âCastles Crumblingâ
âRight where You Left Meâ had been fan waited for months and this crowd got to hear it live with Aaron Dessner present again. Luckily for international fans, Taylor is resetting her surprise songs in 2024, so the chance of hearing this again is very high! This performance of âCastles Crumblingâ made me fall in love with the vault song too.
11. âStay, Stay, Stayâ and âAll Of The Girls You Loved Beforeâ
This may be a hot take because âStay, Stay, Stayâ is not always loved by Swifties, but I would take this song any day if it meant I got to hear âAll Of The Girls You Loved Beforeâ live. It has quickly become my favourite song from Lover ever since its release.
12. âDressâ and âexileâ
Need I even say anything about this? Two of the best songs from their respective albums were played the same night. If you have not seen a video of the âexileâ performance, I would seek one out and watch the beauty that is the crowd singing Taylor’s part back to her.
13. âI Know Placesâ and âKing Of My Heartâ
My favourite song from 1989 and my favourite from reputation. Both performed so beautifully; the vocals were out of this world. I am forever jealous of those who got to be there but forever reminding myself I will be seeing Taylor live twice next year!
