Football-Free Reasons to Watch the Super Bowl

Super Bowl Sunday is almost here. Now I’m not a football fan, but this is still an exciting weekend for me. Not that I dislike football, I have just never been able to fully grasp the rules, therefore I find it to be a very frustrating three hours. The thing about Super Bowl Sunday is that there are so many other reasons to watch than just the game. If you’re still not convinced, here are some of the reasons to watch this year:

The Commercials

Yes, you heard me…commercials, the thing you usually fast forward through. The Super Bowl is home to some of the best commercials in advertising and they cost upwards of $5 million per ad per company to produce. The commercials are always clever, funny and overall entertaining for any audience, all critical characteristics of an ad that will be seen by tens of millions of people.

The Snacks

If you’ve never been to a Super Bowl party, I highly recommend going, even if only for the food. I have never seen a house that doesn’t go all out on snacks for the biggest football game of the year. From chips and dip to meatballs to all the finger foods you can think of, this is the winning line up of hors d’oeuvres. Superbowl Sunday is the one day of the year that nobody can criticize you for sitting on the couch, ignoring the tv and snacking through the night.

The Halftime Show

Every year the Super Bowl pulls out all the stops when it comes to their halftime performance. This show is always headlined by the biggest names in the music industry, and this year’s star-studded line up has more than 40 Grammys combined. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J Blige are all set to take the stage in Los Angeles this Sunday.

The Players

Football players are arguably some of the best-looking men in sports. While there will be no shortage of athletic hunks on your tv screen, keep your eyes open for Joe Burrow (Bengals) and Odell Beckham Jr. (Rams). While we will all be missing out on seeing Patrick Mahomes this year, we can only hope that he appears on the big screen at some point during the game.

All in all, the Super Bowl isn’t only about football. Yes, it is the biggest football game of the year, but it is also about the food and drinks, the entertainment and the handsome players. Don’t think about it as just watching a football game, make it a night to remember!
