This year, I randomly developed an allergy to lash glue and since then my life has seriously sucked, especially as a makeup lover. However, despite my allergies, I tried to find a lash glue that worked for me without breaking me out in hives. Below, I made a list of the lash glues I have tried as well as which ones do and don’t work for me. If you also have sensitive skin and are looking for a lash glue, you are in the right place!
DUO Lash Adhesive (Original)
DUO lash glue is probably the most popular and widely used lash glue out there, but it is also loaded with latex, formaldehyde and fragrance. If you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend you avoid this glue. The last time I used it my eyes were so swollen that it looked as if I got punched. However, if you know you have a latex allergy like me (don’t ask how I found out), then I suggest the hypoallergenic version.
KISS Strip Lash Adhesive
Surprise, surprise, I’m allergic to this one too! However, I found that with this lash glue, my reaction was milder due to the fact that the formula is both latex and formaldehyde-free. Their other version, with aloe for a moisturizing and calming effect on the skin, is definitely a great choice if you are allergic to both formaldehyde and latex.
Glamnetic
Magnetic lashes are the new wave and luckily for me, I find that they are the most wearable option if I take the right steps. Although very costly, Glamnetic lashes are a good choice if you find that it is hard to apply regular lashes and you also love wearing eyeliner. The application is very easy, but the formula contains acrylates, a common ingredient in lash glue known to cause irritation. Because I also happened to be allergic to acrylates, I like to line my eyes with my regular eyeliner and then go in with the magnetic liner on top. This solution prevents the acrylates from touching my skin and it doesn’t bother my eyes as much.
Abby Roberts X Tatti Lashes Sensitive Lash Adhesive
Abby Roberts is a popular makeup artist on TikTok who also has an insane allergy to eyelashes. When she came out with a lash glue free of acrylates, latex and formaldehyde, I knew I had to try it. The formula is made with one ingredient, and I also happen to be allergic to it. This lash glue was very hit or miss, but it did cause one of the worst reactions I have ever had. The reviews on TikTok are very mixed, but I was really looking forward to this product.
True Glue All Natural Lash Glue
I recently discovered True Glue and I’m still trying to see if this glue is one that I can use with no reaction. True Glue is a small Canadian business founded in Toronto that claims to make all-natural lash glue! It sounds too good to be true. The texture of the glue is very gloopy and thick, but still sticks and holds very well. I would recommend wearing eyeliner with this one as the glue dries kind of white, but can be easily covered. I would probably recommend this product, as it contains a lot of nourishing ingredients like castor oil and rose water. Hopefully, this is the glue for me!
It’s very frustrating to have an allergy to lash glue, but as time goes on there are more and more options available to those like me. Out of all the glues and options I have tried, I find Glamnetic to be the best one. Although I do have to line my eyes first, they are so easy to put on and stay on very well. Some extra precautions I take when testing new glues are using Systane wipes right after to cleanse my eyelids, popping an allergy pill or even using allergy eye drops. Even though I have to take all these precautions, I love lashes and I probably won’t stop until I find a way to keep wearing them. I hope my list and experiences with these lash glues have provided you with enough insight to try them too.
