If you’re like me and love trying new places, then you’re going to love this list. I love finding new spots in Waterloo that are perfect for a date night or even a night out with your friends. I’ve compiled a list of some of the restaurants in Waterloo that I’ve been recommended to try. Hopefully, this inspires you to try them too!

Masala Bay, 3B Regina street north

Masala Bay is an incredible Indian restaurant found in uptown Waterloo. It was recommended by none other than HCWLU’s Megan Lindner, and she says it’s the best spot to get your butter chicken fix. Masala Bay has an extensive menu with a few great vegan options. Many of their popular dishes include butter chicken (of course), shrimp biriyani (popular south Asian rice dish) and channa masala (chickpea curry). The reviews on this place are unbeatable as Masala Bay offers an authentic Indian experience with dishes from various regions in India. Fun fact, Stephen Hawking has dined here before!

busan bbq restaurant, 396 king street north

Busan is an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spot where you can grill up your own food. The menu offers many varieties of meat ranging from beef to chicken wings and an extensive number of vegetarian options such as enoki mushroom and tofu. If you’ve never been to KBBQ, it’s a perfect date night restaurant because you can test out your date’s cooking skills. I’ve been recommended to go to Busan by so many people that it should be a crime that I haven’t gone yet.  The reviews are flawless, however, make sure you go with an empty stomach because all you can eat is no joke!

wildcraft grill and long bar, 425 king street north

Wildcraft is a classier restaurant in Waterloo, perfect for those special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. The upscale restaurant is known for its crafty drinks and high-quality menu. They also have an impeccable patio that will be perfect when the weather warms up. Some of the notable dishes on the menu include the venison burger, chicken wings and all their steaks have perfect reviews. The truffle mashed potatoes have been a repeat mention in their reviews and apparently, all the sides are an incredible hit. Hit up Wildcraft for your next classy night out.

Although this list is very short and sweet, it’s all of the restaurants that have been repeatedly recommended to me by many people (which has to mean they’re good). Hopefully, you can try them out and love them too.

Anikka Salandran is a 2nd-year student at Wilfrid Laurier University studying English (still deciding her double major and minor!) When she is not busy writing essays and reading books you can find her dipping chocolate strawberries for her business or binge-watching Netflix. Fun fact: She has a twin!
