A full school year has passed since I joined Her Campus back in September 2020. This year has certainly been an interesting one. I haven’t actually been able to meet all of the friends that I have made in this club in person. It is a weird feeling to think that we are so close, but all our friendships have been formed online. It may sound a little cheesy, but joining Her Campus has not only been one of the highlights of my year but also of my university career. It’s been really fun to have a weekly Zoom meeting and other social events to look forward to during such an unpredictable part of our lives.
After Volume I, I hoped to get more involved, and I’d say I did! School definitely popped up on the occasional night and I’d have a last-minute assignment to finish, which bummed me out when it meant I couldn’t make the socials. I have to remember I can’t be too hard on myself because I know everyone finds themselves caught up and stressed out with school at one point or another.
As we move into the summer, I have big plans for my time here with Her Campus. Over the summer, I will continue to prioritize my writing and allow my articles to be a creative outlet for me. I had one article this year that did really well, and I felt that because I really talked about something that I love and enjoy, others saw that too. If you want, you can check it out HERE!
In addition to my articles, I have been able to get involved even more with Her Campus by joining the book club that one of our members organized! I’m really excited about this because it will be a great opportunity for me to stay connected with my Her Campus team over the summer!
When the fall rolls back around, I hope that I will finally be able to meet some of the friends that I have made this past year! I am optimistic that the vaccine rollout will help with the pandemic, but for now, it is important that we keep it online so that one day we can all be together again.
I also hope to take on an executive position with Her Campus in the future. I am leaning towards the Director of Marketing or Director of Events positions, but we shall see! I know that whoever is chosen will do an incredible job. I will have to update in Volume III!
That is all for now, but I wanted to say a huge thank you to all graduating members for their hard work and dedication to Her Campus. My time here this past year has been so special to me, and it would not have been possible without you!
