For a while, an extra week of spring break was great! I was enjoying some well-needed rest and catching up on my Netflix queue.

After a few days, however, I realized I was losing my mind.

My mother appointed me as the “cruise director” for my sisters during our break before online courses, so I’ve been planning fun activities to keep us all from killing each other.

So here are a couple things that worked for me:

1. I made a Google Sites page where I post themed worksheets with brain teasers and puzzles! I also made a list of shows that correlate with the worksheets, which can be found here

2. Start a new Netflix series. Check out Her Campus writer Jenna Esslinger’s recs here, or check out the website above for other show recommendations.

3. Or if you aren’t in the mood for an entire series, but want an hour of laughter, you can check out our very own Hannah Hippensteel’s list of comedy specials on Netflix.

4. If you’re into fashion and beauty, now’s a great time to try out some new looks! You can figure out the little details that keep that hairstyle working all day long or figure out if your outfit needs a comfort alteration—like longer socks or Band-Aids on the heels of shoes to reduce chafing—so you can exit quarantine slaying.

5. Learn a new skill! Cooking is kind of an obvious one, but get creative. Maybe your grandma gave you a knitting kit you never used or you have some scrap cloth and a sewing kit to learn how to fix ripped clothing. The world is your oyster, and YouTube has a tutorial for every pearl. I’m sorry about that pun, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen people.

6. If all the above fails, go for a walk. Fresh air really does do wonders, and the weather is getting nicer as we march into spring—again, so sorry!

7. Try an online Zumba or yoga class to get you moving in the comfort of your own home and your favorite sweatpants that are stained from eating an entire can of Spaghettios by yourself… I won’t judge.

8. If your family is still old school with gaming systems, the Just Dance series of Wii games is a fun alternative to Zumba and yoga that gives you feedback on your performance!

9. Read a book. Check out Her Campus writer Lena Zarate’s recs here. Goodreads also lists fan-favorite books in their respective genres each year, so you get new books you like.

Give some of these a try for a heck of a quaran-time! (Had to end with a pun, too!)

She hopes to teach high school social studies, because she wouldn’t be able to deal with her students eating smart glue during craft activities just because it has the word “smart” on it. She wrote a story on Watt-pad (during middle school, in an account she can no longer access) that received far too many votes for several awards, and no, she will not give you the name. In her free time she enjoys reading, writing, and watching The Good Place repeatedly on Netflix.
