Meet Anacorina Velasco: The most POSITIVE and PASSIONATE girl on Campus.
A Zumba instructor, Executive member of the WSU Ambassadors, Winona State Football team intern, security guard for campus security and an ambassador for WSU’s WhatRUWearing.
Holy smokes, right? She is involved in all of these things but if you haven’t seen her running from place to place on campus this year, you are bound to run into her sometime. If not in person, you are likely to see some of her posts on social media because beyond doing all of these things, Cora has become a face for positivity, guidance and passion on the WSU Campus, on social media, and to those around her.
Cora is from Caracas, Venezuela. Her transition to Winona State University when she was just 17 was not easy for her. She came to Winona one short week after graduating high school and shared that she felt very lonely when she first got to Winona, and pretty out of place.
Today, she uses her past experiences and positive attitude about almost everything to help her, help others. You can find examples of her push for positivity on her Instagram (anacorinave), Twitter (@AnacorniaVe), and Facebook accounts.
Cora’s love for people, dancing, working out and wanting to share her passion for something she loves with others lead her to become a WSU Zumba instructor.
You can find her in the IWC room 127 Mondays and Wednesdays @ 7 p.m. and give the WSU Fitness Facebook page a like to keep up with all the fitness events happening each week.
As for all the other things she’s involved in, let’s just say she knows how to take advantage of the opportunities that are presented to her. Her love for fashion and getting ready for the day lead her to become a WSU WhatRUWearing Ambassador and she encourages everyone to tag your #ootd (outfit of the day) on Instagram and follow @wsu_whatareyouwearing for inspiration.
When she’s not being a fashionista, keeping the campus safe, out on the football field taking photos, updating social media, and being a proud supporter of the WSU Football Team you are likely to find her drinking coffee, eating or trying to squeeze in a 10 minute nap between activities.
Cora’s Advice to YOU!
“My advice would be to be open to new people and new things, be kind to everyone you meet, because we are all fighting a battle that nobody knows about. Be who you are and learn from others. Coming to college is more than coming to get an education. It’s about learning from other people. You can make the smallest difference that you wouldn’t even know about just by being nice to others.”
