If you’ve been passing up half of the items in your closet and are thinking about donating your clothes, donate them to Dream Closet. Dream Closet is a student organization started in 2013 by Kylen Feltes at Minnesota State, Mankato. The news of this group spread to Winona, and Winona State’s group is currently headed by Gabriella Ingebrand. Dream Closet is a great way to empty out your closet and donate to a good cause.
The next event is Sunday, April 9th from noon to 3 p.m. in Somsen’s Business Engagement Center. There is no charge for community members to go and pick out clothes for themselves and their loved ones. This year community members will also walk away with a baggy full of essentials everyone should have: toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, towels, soap and shampoo. They won’t go hungry either because snacks will also be provided. All of this wouldn’t be possible without the donations from the Winona community. If you want to donate, find a box on campus or in town. If you have questions, contact the Dream Closet Facebook page or Gabriella Ingebrand. Any and all clothes, shoes and accessories are accepted, from women’s to men’s to children’s. All donations are appreciated, and the event wouldn’t be possible without them. It seems crazy that a set of clothing could change someone’s life, but we have seen it happen and we want to share this experience with as many people as possible.
Donation locations:
WSU Campus: Kirkland & Haake Hall, Sheehan, Lucas, Conway, Kryzsko Commons, Maxwell, Somsen, SLC, Lourdes, and Maria.
