Puppy Doggin’ Around Winona

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

What a better college stress reliever than having a fellow puppy companion to let off some steam with. Puppies are a wonderful way to get outside and take a break from school; we found some warrior K9’s around the WSU campus to share with you and fill your puppy void!

Owner PingPing Zhang Shiba Inu named DaMi

Meet this little puppy that’s named DaMi after rice. Rice is an energetic little Shiba Inu that is originally mainly popular around Japan. Her owner Pingping cannot take enough walks to wear her out. She favors females, only allowing females to pet her; however DaMi loves playing with boys. When she’s not wearing out her mother, DaMi can be found nibbling on bananas and honeydew!

Owner Mikayla Schilz, maltese and yorkie mix named Mini

Mini is a little Morkie — half Maltese and half Yorkshire.

Owner Miranda Johnson black lab named Remi

Meet Remi — she’s a purebred black lab. She is one of the spunkiest puppies ever–her name should be thumper because she has constant energy and when she jumps she does it off of all four legs, it is honestly one of the cutest/funniest things I have ever seen. Although she loves to be energetic and constantly getting into mischief (already), she is a total sweetheart who enjoys mid day naps, just like Miranda does…basically the perfect match.

Owner Lauren Cleary black lab mix named Easton

Meet Easton; a black lab mix. Easton loves chewing–anything and everything, but preferably all of his moms shoes. When he’s not suffocating himself in his peanut butter filled kong, he’s darting around beautiful Winona breaking girls hearts one block at a time.

Owner Tommy Ngo dog Hudson

Meet Hudson — 1/2 Pomeranian 1/4 Yorkie and poodle, and 100% full of energy. Don’t be surprised when you see Hudson strapped into a chest harness going on bike rides around Winona.

Owner Holly Parpart dog Mila

Mila (like Mila Kunis the actress) she’s a 3 month old German shepherd and she loves people. She likes swimming and going for walks. She likes cuddling when she’s tired otherwise she’s super energetic and likes playing. She loves attention and she’s a really happy puppy.

Lauren Cleary, commonly known as LC around the WSU campus. She’s a senior, majoring in Mass Communication | Advertising with a minor in Sociology. When she’s not in classes, sleeping through her alarms, or watching Cops, she can be found chatting up some college students and townies bartending at one of the bars on quaint 3rd street. Originally from the burbs of Milwaukee, predictably Lauren enjoys dark beer, beef jerky, and a good patio to eat brunch on… firm believer in there always being a reason for a “cheers”!
Meet our writer Courtney D. Jones! Courtney is a junior at Winona State University majoring in Mass Communications- Advertising. She is consistently busy juggling school, working two jobs, and on the recruitment committee for Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, so coffee is a necessity. But not just any coffee, it must be Starbucks Blonde Roast, with a dash of peppermint mocha creamer and a fourth of a packet of sugar. She has a die-hard love for all things beauty and fashion, and dreams of owning everything on her Pinterest boards one day. With her bright and bubbly personality, she loves meeting new people and sharing a good laugh. As a Chicago native, her happy place consists of drinking a cold microbrew with her favorite Giordano’s deep-dish pizza while watching her beloved Bears team.
