Halloween is about being kids, trick-or-treating, and getting (and eating) as much candy as your stomach can handle.
Or at least that’s what I did.
On the other end, Halloween is also about dressing up as whatever you want and going to haunted houses, scary mazes and parties with friends. A holiday like Halloween is just one of the many holidays that has been or will be impacted by COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate Halloween at all… right? Here is a list of ideas to safely celebrate Halloween this year!
You may not be able to celebrate with a large group of friends or family, but you can still celebrate with the people in your house. If little kids are involved, some fun activities can include glow-in-the-dark egg/pumpkin search, baking spooky-looking snacks, and treats!
If your favorite part about Halloween is dressing up, then this would be perfect for you! You can still dress up and show off your amazing Halloween make-up skills!
- Carve pumpkins (& roast the seeds too)!
Carving pumpkins is always fun, and it’s a great creative way for kids (and adults) to still be in the Halloween spirit!
- Create a candy graveyard in your very own front yard!
Making a maze of tombstones is an easy and socially distant way to let kids still trick-or-treat! Have one kid enter at a time and set out bowls of prizes or pre-wrapped candy at each tombstone!
- Have a Halloween movie marathon!
Whether you’re a parent with kids or a college kid looking to have fun, having a Halloween-movie marathon is never a wrong choice. Let the kids stay up a little later and watch their favorite Halloween movies or get everyone in your house together and watch the scariest movies you can find!
However, you choose to celebrate Halloween, remember to wash your hands, avoid touching your face, wear a mask and to be safe.
