Winter In The Cities: Snowy Events for Over Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winona chapter.

With the semester coming to an end, and many of you heading back towards the Twin Cities, there are a couple of things you cannot miss out on this winter break!

Wild Game: For all you true Minnesotans (AKA hockey lovers), nothing is better than the atmosphere of a Wild game at the Xcel.  There isn’t a bad seat in the place so buy a cheap ticket with your friends and enjoy a night downtown! Oh and while you’re down there, you can’t pass up Cossetta’s. The best, affordable, Italian restaurant right across the street!

Ice Skating: The best place to go skating in the cities is Centennial Lakes, which is located in Edina.  You can bring your own skates or rent them for $6, but the admission is free! When you need a break from skating, you can go inside the warming house and relax by the fireplace with a big cup of hot chocolate.

The Holiday Market: On November 28th Minneapolis transformed into a winter wonderland. This is the first year that Minneapolis is hosting the Holiday Market, so head downtown to experience the Holidazzle Village! Read our article The Minneapolis Holiday Market for more info!

Buck Hill: Grab your skis or snowboard and make your way over to Buck Hill for a day! If you don’t have your own, you can rent some in the lodge.  They also offer tubing if you prefer not to ski!

Ice Castles: The Ice Castles are coming to Eden Prairie this winter! The huge ice sculptures have thousands of LED lights embedded in the ice that gives the ice castles a sparkle. Remember this viral video from last year? The Ice Castles company built the ice sculpture seen in this Let It Go cover! They are expected to open in Eden Prarie the day after Christmas.
