Like most great love stories start, my parents met on Valentine’s Day and later had me…and my twin.Â
Before my parents knew they were having twins, my mom said, “I thought it was just another large child like your oldest sister!” (Believe it or not, my sister weighed 13 pounds!)
Preparing for twins for my parents became difficult. At the time, my two sisters, my mom and my dad, lived in a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment. Before my twin and I came along, they had to pack up their things and move houses to make room for us.Â
My mom went into labor, and for the first time ever on the day we were born, we layed in my mother and father’s arms for the first time. It was such a shock to them though when they saw us–they thought I was going to be a boy! But lucky for me (and for my sister!) I was a girl.Â
Like most twin sisters, my lovely twin sister and I were inseparable.
We were so close, we weren’t even able to sleep in different cribs; we were attached at the hip, even when we were in the hospital. This continued until we were almost a year old. And, as everyone knows, kids grow up way too fast.Â
One day, we were jumping on our bed lined with Blue’s Clues sheets and tattling on each other, and before we knew it we were in middle school; we were two peas in a pod, partners in crime, and best friends. We were silly middle schoolers, on the same page, scheming to trade classes and take each other’s tests for us.Â
Again, we were so lucky to have each other.
Of course we were lucky to help each other pass our weak subjects–but what we were truly lucky for was each other, and now today we’re even luckier.
Now that we are making our way through college, we have bonded even more and the arguing has diminished completely. I miss her everyday and I believe that the fights and obstacles we faced made us stronger and has brought ust together. We will continue to share things until we die; we will be best friends until we die; we will be sisters until we die.Â
