While we prepare for our lives in the real world, it’s important for us to remember what we’re in college for. We came to learn, but as school work starts to pile up, it gets harder and harder to stay motivated. Our stress levels increase and we sometimes lose our motivation will to get work done!
But, we can’t let our stress discourage us from remembering what we are here for! Â It’s time for us to buckle down and get motivated!Â
Follow these steps and you’ll stay focused and get motivated with no problem!
1. Take breaksIf you study for too long, you can easliy start lose focus and get distracted and discouraged to keep going. So, give yourself a break. Try and put the pencil down for a moment and relax for a little while. The best thing to do is to study for 45 minutes to an hour at a time, and then take about 20 minutes to chill–get a snack, stalk the Instagram feed, or take a power nap!Â
2. Reward yourselfWhenever you finish a big assignment, reward yourself with something you love to do. Watch an episode of your favoirte show on Netflix, take a short nap, or call your mom–you’ll need it and deserve a reward!
3. Track your study hoursKeeping track of how long you study for can help supplement your reward system in a way. Once you see that you’ve studied for however many hours, you want to see how much longer you can keep it up. It pushes you to stay strong and keep going.
4. Get sleepLet’s face it, we all need our beauty sleep, but we also need sleep to give our minds a break. Staying awake for longer than we should just makes us tired and frustrated, and makes it even harder to stay awake and do your best the next day.
5. Study with a friendStudy buddies are one of the best ways to stay motivated! You both have to get your work done, so use each other to remind you of that! Push yourselves to get your work done, don’t let one another slack off, and make sure you keep one another from getting distracted.
6. Stay focusedZoom in on one thing and focus on it. Take it one step at a time otherwise you’ll get overwhelmed.
7. Make listsMaking lists is a great way to figure out what you need to get done before you do it. It forces you to get things done because it’s a reminder of what you need to do, and it helps you manage your time better. It’s an immediate satisfaction when you finish something and can cross it off, and that feeling will definitely keep you motivated to continue to work hard!
Study hard and stay motivated collegiettes!Â
