Try Something New: Chick-Fil-A Picks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

After awhile, we start to get bored of our normal fast order. Most of us either get a sandwich or nugget meal at Chick-Fil-A because that is what we are used to… Occasionally treating ourselves to a Cookies & Cream milkshake. Maybe this is your sign that it is time to reach out and try something new!

Over the summer, I started to use the Chick-Fil-A app a lot more to do curbside pickup. From ordering on the app, I learned about all the different meals, entrée’s, and sides you could get when selecting the items for my order. Side dishes like Mac n Cheese, Kale salad, Potato chips, a Chocolate Brownie… you name it! I switched things up a bit from usual order of: 8-count nugget meal, medium fries, 2 chick-fil-a sauces, and a lemonade. When you think of fast food, you tend to automatically think “unhealthy”. However, I would not consider this establishment to be your typical greasy grub.

As I learned from my Nutrition class, health is all about moderation and variety in meals. The typical meal I described earlier is 1,050 calories. Changing it up a bit and ordering the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Kale Crunch salad, and a water drops you down to 440 calories and about half of the sodium intake. Now my goal here is not to preach nutrition, but it is quite eye-opening to see the range of possibilities and value that is brought to you based on what you decide to fuel your body with! Be adventurous, try that Hashbrown breakfast bowl or the Mocha Cream Cold Brew… go out of your comfort zone to find some delicious choices and make a fun date out of it!
