What It Was Like Working at Chick-fil-a on Campus Explained Through Gifs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

Hell. That is it, it was hell.

I survived about two months working at the on campus Chick-fil-a, and after that I couldn’t handle it anymore. I worked the opening day and so many people came in that the line was out the door. At that time I was in charge of putting fries into bags and delivering them to the people who were waiting in line. Here are five gifs that accurately explain my short time as an employee for Chick-fil-a.

1. When a customer has been waiting less than five minutes for their order during a busy time and you have already told them that it will be a minute before their fries are out and they still huff and puff and tap their nails on the counter as if that is going to make the fries cook faster. All you can do then is look at your coworker and give them this look and hope they’ll hold you back just in case you try to jump around the customer’s neck.

2. When it’s been a long shift and it’s a minute from closing time and someone has the AUDACITY to walk into your line and smile in your face like you’re not trying to get home to do your homework and I don’t know… maybe sleep?

3. When you’re in the middle of your standard Chick-fil-a greeting of “Hi, it’s a wonderful day at Chick-fil-a, my name is-” but they CUT YOU OFF AND PROCEED WITH THEIR ORDER AND YOU HAVE TO STAND THERE AND NOT STRANGLE THEM. Huh, me? Mad? Never.

4. Customers asking you questions that you have no idea how to answer so all you can do is shrug and say “I’ll be sure to ask for you”, but really… you’re never going to ask.

5. And lastly, walking out of their on your last day, free as bird, realizing that stressing yourself and dealing with bratty college kids that wanted chicken nuggets with ten sauces is so not worth it and getting back to your life. (No offense Collegiettes, we all have our moments.)
