The 3 Outfits You Need for Thanksgiving Weekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

There is something about coming home for the holidays that sparks the desire to find a fresh new look. Thanksgiving is the first major break in the fall semester when everybody that you know and love will likely be gathered in one location. With the summer months well behind you and your tan surely faded, it’s natural to feel some pressure to look good for those loved ones you haven’t seen in a few months. Between high school friends, family members, and everyone in between, I’ve created the perfect outfits below for when you need some inspiration. These looks will surely make you best dressed of Thanksgiving break.

Look #1: Traveling—Comfort and Style

Over Thanksgiving break, it is common to spend hours in the car (or an airplane) in order to feast with family and friends. Skinny jeggings are perfect for those long travel days. The T-shirt and sweater cardigan combination is perfect for flights or car rides because it allows some flex room for temperature changes. The big, structured bag will hold all travel essentials like headphones, iPods, water bottles, magazines, etc. Finally, neutral flat boots in black or tan are easy to slip on and off, yet still show off a more stylish side.

Look #2: The Meal—Loose and Sophisticated

Honestly, is there a worse combination than jeans and Thanksgiving dinner? We’ve all been there, right after your second serving of your Grandmother’s famous sweet potato casserole, your stomach starts to churn and you seriously consider unbuttoning those skinny jeans. A leather skirt and black tights are the perfect solution to constraining pants. The tights will keep you warm and the skirt will provide the perfect amount of room in order to have that second slice of carrot cake (I know you’ve been eyeing it
). The chunky knit sweater, jewel toned bag, statement necklace, and neutral booties will keep you on trend with minimal effort!

Look #3: Night out with friends—Simple and Glam

As I mentioned earlier, everyone loves to impress their friends with their flawless look over Thanksgiving break. No need for anything complicated; a simple look with a few exciting pops of color and glitz will do the trick. Try a bright top with your choice of statement necklace and bangles. The bright color and hints of metallic will be exciting against a plain black pair of pants, a neutral bag, and leather black heels. Not only will you look fresh and polished, but also you’ll be comfortable in this perfect ‘going out with friends’ ensemble. Happy styling, Collegiettes!
