Halloween is right around the corner, and whether you’re trying to save your money for the giant bags of fun-size candy that go on sale at Walgreens November 1st, a Freakfest ticket, or your daily Pumpkin Spice lattes from Starbucks (no shame basic girls), here are some cheap and easy DIY Halloween costumes!
1. The Group Costume
No prince charming? No problem! Grab your group of girls and be the 7 dwarves! Get a colorful beanie hat and tee and pair it with jean shorts with “Hi Ho” duct taped on the back of the shorts. Let’s just say you won’t find these dwarves roaming around Disney World.
2. The Last Minute Costume
When doesn’t flannel save the day? If you’re scrambling for a costume last minute, grab a pair of jeans, dark boots, brown hat, and a flannel to be a scarecrow. Add some makeup and flowers to top off the entire look!
3. The Crafty Costume
If you really want to be the life of the party, I suggest being a party animal (literally). This DIY costume requires a little more time, but really lets you show off your crafting skills. Buy different colored streamers and cut ½ inch slits into them. Take and old tube dress and using fabric glue put the streamers on the dress alternating between the colors. To prevent the streamers from ripping when you put the dress on, have a friend glue theme on while you’re wearing the dress. Throw on a party hat and you’re ready to fiesta! Just don’t let anyone hit you with a stick!
4. The Punny Costume
Trick or treat? More like Trix or treat. If you want a costume that will get a few laughs, then make a cereal killer costume. Grab a white tee and attach mini cereal boxes to it with super glue. Splatter the shirt and a knife with fake blood. As Tony the Tiger would say, this costume is G-r-r-eat!
5. The Make-up Costume
Everyone at the party will say “oh deer” when you step into the room with this deer make-up. This costume uses a lot of simple makeup supplies that you probably already own. Here is a video tutorial of how to pull this look off:
