We finally got our first snow, and you know what that means — winter! There’s nothing like warming up to a toasty homemade meal, so check out these recipes for some tasty treats to keep you warm this winter.

 

1. Stovetop Macaroni and Cheese

Macaroni and cheese is without a doubt one of the greatest feel-good foods out there. However, sometimes boxed macaroni doesn’t quite warm us up like homemade macaroni always does. Give this easy stovetop macaroni and cheese a try if you’re feeling a little homesick this winter!

Ingredients:

  1. 16-ounce box of pasta

  2. 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter

  3. â…“ cups all-purpose flour

  4. 4 cups whole milk

  5. 2 teaspoons salt

  6. ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

  7. ÂĽ teaspoon cayenne pepper

  8. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  9. 1 teaspoon mustard powder

  10. 16 ounces of grated sharp cheddar cheese

  11. 1 cup grated parmesan

 

2. Chicken Noodle Soup

With cold weather comes flu season, and there’s no better remedy for being sick than chicken noodle soup. Easy to make and delicious to eat, this chicken noodle soup recipe will get you feeling better in no time!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tablespoon canola oil

  2. 2 celery ribs, chopped

  3. 2 medium carrots, chopped

  4. 1 medium onion, chopped

  5. 8 cups chicken broth (reduced sodium)

  6. ½ teaspoon dried basil

  7. ÂĽ teaspoon pepper

  8. 4 ounces uncooked whole wheat egg noodles

  9. 3 cups coarsely chopped rotisserie chicken

  10. 1 tablespoon of parsley, minced

 

3. Chili with Black Beans and Grilled Chicken

Chili is an incredibly versatile meal, and it’s a treat every time you eat it. Turn the heat up a little this winter with a black bean and chicken chili. It’s easy to prepare and simple to make in a crockpot; plus, it will give you tasty leftovers!  

Ingredients:

  1. 1 tablespoon canola oil

  2. 1 sweet yellow onion, diced

  3. 2 stalks of celery, diced

  4. 1 poblano pepper, seeded and diced

  5. ½ yellow bell pepper, seeded and diced

  6. 4 cloves of garlic, minced

  7. 1 tablespoon cumin

  8. 1 teaspoon oregano

  9. 1 teaspoon chili powder

  10. 1 teaspoon coriander

  11. ½ teaspoon paprika

  12. 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  13. 2 cans of black beans, drained and rinsed

  14. 1 can of crushed tomatoes

  15. 2 cups of chicken broth

  16. 2 corn tortillas, cut into small bits

  17. 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

 

4. Tomato Bisque

No matter what season it is, grilled cheese and tomato soup make for one of the best — and easiest — meals out there. Elevate your meal this winter season by making your tomato soup at home, and enjoy a cozy break from the madness of finals season.

Ingredients:

  1. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  2. 1 tablespoon minced bacon (about 1/2 ounce)

  3. 1 Spanish onion, chopped

  4. 1 carrot, chopped

  5. 1 stalk celery, chopped

  6. 4 cloves garlic, minced

  7. 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  8. 5 cups chicken broth, homemade or low-sodium canned

  9. 1 (28-ounce) can whole, peeled tomatoes (with liquid), roughly chopped

  10. 3 parsley sprigs

  11. 3 fresh thyme sprigs

  12. 1 bay leaf

  13. 1 cup heavy cream

  14. 1 ¾  teaspoon kosher salt

  15. Freshly ground black pepper

 

5. Chocolate-Caramel Fondue

Fondue is one of the coziest, most social desserts! Gather up all of your closest friends and enjoy this deliciously chocolaty dessert on the coldest of winter nights to come.

Ingredients:

  1. 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk

  2. 12-ounce jar of caramel

  3. 9 ounces of semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
