For the ultimate chill summer playlist
With the school year coming to an end and the weather getting warmer, all I can think about is summer. The perfect way to prepare is by creating an extensively long playlist to play all summer long. Ideal for beach days, road trips and sunny picnics, these artists have the perfect indie vibes you’re looking for.
1. Chris Emond
Although a fairly new artist, Chris Emond has crafted songs that serve perfectly as music for a summer picnic or driving around late at night. My personal favorite, “Medium Demons,” released in 2022, is in collaboration with Bennett Coast and was played on repeat in my car last summer. Despite only having one album, “Panthers Juno,” it’s a must listen, especially the songs “Monte Sereno” and “Tang.”
2. Goth Babe
All songs by Goth Babe are ideal for beach days and driving with the windows down. Plus, he has an endless number of singles, all with relaxing but high vibes. My personal favorites are “Moments / Tides,” “Surfing in Iceland” and “Driving South,” although you really can’t go wrong with any of them.
3. Mt. Joy
For those of you who have a summer full of camping ahead, Mt. Joy is the perfect artist to play on repeat. With plenty of albums and a variety of songs to choose from, they have both chill indie music and upbeat rock music. If you’ve looking for something to play around the campfire, the albums “Mt. Joy” and “Orange Blood” are the perfect place to start.
4. Still Woozy
While you’ve probably heard of Still Woozy before, especially his most famous song “Goodie Bag,” you’ve got to check out the rest of his music. As an avid Still Woozy fan, I truly believe he cannot make a bad song, as evidenced by all of his music so far. Some of his less popular songs, like “Ipanema,” in collaboration with Omar Apollo, and “Rocky” are arguably some of the best.
5. Bennett Coast
Last but certainly not least, Bennett Coast has been a go-to for my playlists over the last few summers. As mentioned above in his single with Chris Emond, Bennett Coast also has amazing singles for summer. Ever since 2020, he has never failed to make perfect calming songs, as all of his songs are relaxing with beautiful lyrics.
I don’t know about you, but I could not be more excited for summer, and these artists will certainly have you daydreaming about road trips with friends and picnics at the beach. I guarantee that adding these artists to your playlist is the best way to prepare for summer as we approach the end of the school year.
