Don’t miss out on these fun classes!
Indoor cycling seems to be a fad that has stuck, especially in the Midwest, where the cold winters keep everyone inside. From my experience of cycling in many different boutique studios across the Midwest, here are some of my favorites and my take on what to expect. Each studio was unique, and I couldn’t pick if I could only go back to one. Here are five of my top favorite studios in the Midwest!
1. Bold Cycle, Kohler, WI
Bold Cycle is a boutique cycling studio in Kohler, Wisconsin. It features a variety of different instructors who each bring their own unique vibe to the studio. As someone who rides here often, I can say that the community is supportive and full of love. There are many fun experiences here, including weekly events and monthly challenges to take part in. I would definitely recommend checking this studio out if you ever find yourself enjoying the luxuries of Kohler, WI.
2. Turnstyle, Madison, WI
Turnstyle is at the heart of the UW Madison campus, located right off of the popular State Street. This studio is a must-stop when in Madison, it even offers its own unique flair with Badger game day rides. Bustling with college students, this studio is full of young energy and youthful vibes. Be ready to ride fast to your favorite remix with one of the young college instructors at Turnstyle.
3. Spynergy, West Loop, Chicago, IL
Located in a warehouse-like building, Spynergy makes you want to work hard and leaves you dripping with sweat. It’s owned by a group of five instructors who each have their own style of riding, with the common theme of being high energy and motivational. Nothing compares to the early morning classes, as they usually bring out the toughest riders. This studio brought me back to my high school days of feeling young and empowered. Its coaching environment allows instructors to work with you individually and help you reach your fitness goals.
4. Cyclebar, Minneapolis, MN
CycleBar is a classic when it comes to indoor cycling studios. While it isn’t quite boutique, I had to include it because each studio offers its own unique take on the franchise name. Built around riding to the beat of the music and staying in cadence with the instructor, CycleBar is a party on a bike. If you’re on the more competitive side when it comes to working out, the leaderboard at the front of the spin room shows you where you place among your fellow riders. Be ready to climb hills and get your quads burning.
5. Lunar Cycle, Grand Rapids, MI
Lunar Cycle is the definition of a boutique cycling studio. From the moment you walk in the door, you’re met with high energy and the desire to work hard. The unique variations of choreography at Lunar Cycle work all areas of the body, making this studio known for “dancing” on the bike. From abs to arms, Lunar Cycle will leave you wanting more and has so many class offerings, it’s hard not to fit it into your schedule. With different levels of instructors, each class showcases the instructor’s personality and musical taste. Never a dull moment at this studio.
No matter where I go, indoor cycling studios always leave me with gratitude and a good workout. Whether it’s a place full of college energy or simply a warehouse with stationary bikes, you get out what you put into the class. Meeting fellow riders, connecting with the instructor, and feeling whatever you need to while the music plays is something only a dark room and a bike can bring you. So clip into the pedals, because trust me, you won’t regret the best 45 minutes of your day spent in the dark.
