There’s Queen B and Jay Z, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds… but as content as some of us may be with these successful Hollywood couples, it’s hard to say we don’t ever think about the “perfect” Hollywood couples that used to exist. If we’re being honest, it breaks our hearts to think about how some of our favorite exes won’t be spending this upcoming Valentine’s Day together.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we were all a little heartbroken when Bradgelina filed for divorce in September 2016. They were the coolest, the most attractive couple. That’s not to mention the fact that they are the most badass parents of their six kids. Seeing them completely over is truly upsetting. And while their Mr. and Mrs. Smith legacies will live on, their marriage will not. How are we supposed to make it through this Valentine’s Day without our favorite spy couple in the world? We still love you Brad and Ang— we’d just love you a little more if you two would get back together this V-Day.

Rihanna and Drake
We all felt the obvious chemistry between this couple after their hit single “What’s My Name?” And even though they denied it for years, can we not say that they sealed the deal when Drake professed his love for Rihanna at the VMAs? And if their 2016 releases of “Work” and “Too Good” didn’t basically confirmed their mutual love for each other, I don’t know what does. Just check out that scandalous choreography in their music videos and performances! Sadly, these two won’t be dropping any duets this Valentine’s Day as much as we wish they would. But don’t give up hope yet, Rih’s days of being Drake’s “champagne mami” might not be over for good!
-
Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift
This pairing experienced quite the hefty breakup. Calvin Harris’ single “My Way” (which was totally “not written about T-Swift”) and Taylor’s romance with her rebound beau Tom Hiddleston are obvious signs that the two didn’t find a way to settle their differences. This breakup ended up breaking our hearts too, especially after the heartbroken Taylor spoke of envisioning a future with whom she considered the potential “one”. But hey, at least we got a hit single and some potential T-Swift breakup songs, so maybe it wasn’t all bad after all!
-
Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama
This lowkey adorable couple truly broke our hearts when they announced the split after their six happy years together! This split was hard on all of us because, let’s face it, although we love Demi, it’s hard not to love Wilmer too. Luckily, these two broke up for a better reason than most— they just realized they were just better as friends. So, even though we’re still choking up on the unlikely event of them rekindling their love this Valentine’s Day, we at least know their friendship still stands!
-
Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez
This couple seemed too good to be true from the start. Think about it, the beloved Justin Bieber dating the beautiful Selena Gomez— Perfection right? Unfortunately not! Although they seemed like a match made in heaven, the ‘behind the scenes’ details were not as perfect. It’s hard not to side with the heartbroken Selena after hearing about the ugly details of the relationship, that’s not to mention her emotional performances and albums. We know their break up may have been for the better, but it would have been nice to see an apology from J Biebs and a cute rekindling session this Valentine’s Day!

Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron
The relationship between the two High School Musical stars may have been one of the most iconic moments of our adolescence. As much as we loved their awkward but adorable chemistry in the movies, it’s safe to say we loved them dating in real life even more! Even though Austin Butler and Vanessa prove to be an amazing couple, I know I can speak for many when I say Vanessa and Zac were the original ‘goals’ we all imagined for ourselves. I know we’d all be pretty content to see one more rendition of “Breaking Free” this Valentine’s Day. But hey, maybe one day!
Although we’re going to be just fine (and maybe even a little jealous) admiring the love of currently happy Hollywood couples, the rest of these not-so-successful relationships will forever stay in our hearts. They might not be making up this Valentine’s Day, may the memories of them stay with us always.
