As the end of the year approaches, it’s hard not to notice how much has changed. Like most freshmen, I’ve spent the year living in the dorms, and it has been quite the experience. Now that the semester is more than halfway done, here are some thoughts I’ve had while living in the dorms second semester.
Regarding the showers:
No matter how many showers I take in the dorms, I will never NOT be grossed out. I mean, honestly, who leaves that much hair in the shower??
The food situation:
The bottom line is that there are only so many times you can eat a rice bowl from Que Rico…and I passed that limit first semester.
Room Size:
It’s just not enough space for two people to live. There are close quarters, and then there are dorm rooms. The novelty of it was fun first semester, but now it just feels cramped.
Mechanical Issues:
Between the leaking pipes, noisy heater, and chronically broken dryers, let’s just say this building has NOT aged well…
Quiet Hours:
Yeah, they’re necessary, but who are you to stop me from having my 2:00 am dance party??
Roommates:
Who would have thought I was capable of spending so much time with one person without going crazy?? (Well…maybe I went just a little crazy at times…)
Last, but not least, friendships:
I’ve made some of the best friends of my life in the dorms, and that alone makes all the less-than-ideal aspects worth it!
Freshman year is full of all kinds of new experiences, and dorm living is just one of them! No matter what dorm you were in, or if you loved it or hated it, it is something you’ll never forget!
