Dressing For My Favorite Season!
My favorite season is here so it’s time to do some much-needed fall clothing shopping, even though it’s not exactly in the budget. But I’m considering these items my fall “essentials,” so it’s justifiable to purchase them… maybe. Nonetheless, these are some items I’ve been scrolling through Depop and ThredUp to find, and I’m so excited to incorporate them into my wardrobe!
1. Light Jacket
This is an obvious one, but a necessity. Perhaps even a couple of light jackets are what you need. Just the other day I was getting ready to leave home and I knew I wouldn’t be warm enough just in my sweatshirt, but all I had with me was my winter puffer coat, and it was almost 50 degrees– not quite cold enough to bring her out of the closet just yet. So began the search for the perfect fall jacket. Jean jackets are becoming trendy again, as well as suede jackets, and you simply can’t go wrong with a brown or black leather one. Not that I need all of these, but I definitely want them. :)
2. Sweaters
Sweaters are definitely another fall essential– notice the plurality. I will need more than one sweater for this fall since I wear them almost every day, so I am pretty proud of the collection I’ve built up through thrifting sweaters over the years. Every fall since probably my freshman year of high school, I’ve invested in a new sweater or two, and this is something I am so grateful for. I haven’t found a new perfect one yet this year, but I am on the lookout. Sweaters are just so cozy, comfortable, versatile and fall; you really can’t go wrong.
3. Vest
I used to think vests were the ugliest thing you could put on your body. And, I didn’t believe that they could keep you warm at all. Little did I know that vests are the perfect fall-winter layering piece I needed. They keep your core nice and warm without making you too hot, which I love. Something just flipped in me because I think they are so cute now. They can be styled in a sporty way with some track pants or leggings, or more dressed up with nice pants and a sweater. Really, you can’t go wrong with a nice little puffer vest. I currently have a brown one in my ThredUp cart that I need to go purchase…
These are just three pieces of clothing I think are going to be my fall go-to’s this year, but I know there are so many more cool fall pieces I’m going to be tempted to purchase. I’ve been obsessed with all shades of brown, as well as cute scarves and mittens to keep me warm while also adding to my looks. If you couldn’t already tell, fall is my favorite season to dress for, I think because of its versatility. You can still wear a skirt without freezing but make it more “fall” by throwing on a sweater, and I appreciate this so much. Overall, I am just so excited to find and wear these pieces this fall!Â
