Y2K Essentials You Need Right Now
Could you have ever imagined that something in your mom’s closet could be the hottest new item? Me neither. Recently, so many trends from the early 2000s have returned and have everyone running to their nearest thrift shop. Even mainstream fashion brands are hopping on the low-rise bandwagon and are putting out yoga pant after yoga pant. To be honest, I’m here for all the returning trends, and below are some of my favorites that I believe are essentials in my wardrobe right now.
- Yoga Pant
Also coined as “flared leggings,” yoga pants used to be the hottest item on the market, and are now returning as an everyday essential. Yoga pants are my go-to for running errands, going to class, or lounging around. They are the perfect in-between if you don’t want to wear uncomfortable, tight leggings or baggy sweatpants and look like a total slob.
2. Baby Tees
Baby Tees are another great staple that can be worn every day. These cropped tees with graphic designs are the perfect piece to add style to a simple outfit. Baby Tees are also a great way to show off your personality. I’m a huge fan of baby tees with funny and ironic sayings. These will spice up your life and your outfit.Â
3. Denim Skirts
While denim skirts have never fully been out of style, they’re entirely back in full swing. If you told me I would be wearing a denim skirt to a tailgate this time last year, I would never have believed you. But nowadays, people constantly text their friends asking to borrow their denim mini skirts. Denim skirts are so versatile. You can dress them down with a baby tee or simple tank top, or dress them up to go out at night.
4. Cargo Pants
Trust me on this one. Whether going out or going to dinner, cargo pants have become my go-to bottoms. What’s so great about cargo pants is that you can wear them with anything, and the extra flair really pushes your outfit to another dimension. Opposed to boring jeans, cargo pants are versatile in color and style. My personal favorites are the BDG Y2K cargo pants from Urban Outfitters. I have them in several colors, and I can attest that I get their use out of them.
