For many people France means romantic images of the Eiffel Tower, wine and cheese.  It might include smelly mimes smoking cigarettes.  Most American girls will swoon over the French accent, eh ouuuui?  Let’s take a moment to wonder how American girls come across to these classy Frenchmen.  We are a rare breed with our vast collection of yoga pants, our Netflix binges,  love of ze classique American football and game days, to our classic lingo.. I just CAN’T.  I took a minute to ask a few French boys what they think of American girls, and what their experiences have been like.Â
So how would you describe an American girl? Â
Thomas: “Shallow, superficial, drama queens. They yell, they’re spontaneous, and funny,” he adds.Â
Alban:Â “They laugh really loudly and for the few I’ve met I think it’s pretty accurate,”
Nathan: ” I don’t personally know many Americans, but they tend to be portrayed as vulgar, dumb, and superficial on French TV.”
Alban adds that American girls are stylish except for when they were their “jogging pants” outside the house (who doesn’t love a pair of good yoga pants?) “I think it goes with the fact that American girls are more natural or at least they seem to be. I think I could date an American, because there is an exotic thing about dating a foreigner.”  I guess that translates in any language.
Thomas has images of “bffs” watching The Notebook and Bridget Jones Diary, or hanging out at pool parties.  “They’re unhealthy and like processed food,” Thomas says. Â
“I think it’s a great country except for the food maybe,” Alban says.
Surprisingly, many of the boys thought Americans tried to portray themselves as very pure.  Who knew right?  However, this notion changed upon getting to know them.Â
One thing all boys can agree on is that American girls are fun, so we can give ourselves an international pat on the back for that. We might not always have the reputation of put-together young ladies, but we definitely know where the party is at.  Now excuse me as I return to my rom-com and Happy Meal. Â
