Holiday Candle Recommendations (From a Bath & Body Works Employee)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Diving into the best candle season of the year

With the advent of crisp air, Starbucks holiday drinks, and even the first few flurries of snow, it’s becoming more and more evident that the holidays are upon us! If you’re like me, as soon as the weather drops below fifty degrees, I’m more than ready to pull out my winter candles, and considering the fact that I work at Bath & Body Works, I have above-average expertise and taste on the subject. Thankfully, I’m here to share my expert opinion on five of the best holiday candles Bath and Body Works has to offer in order to get everyone ready for this season!

Tree Farm

Tree Farm is the perfect candle for anyone that loves the musky but fresh scent of pine. It’s one of the few things that actually makes me appreciate the cold weather outside! It’ll make you feel like you’re walking through rows of fresh trees, looking for the perfect one to take home for the season. By matching the deep scent of cedar with the warmth of apple, this candle creates the perfect ambiance for a chilly day.

(Scent notes: crisp pine needle, warm cedar, spiced apple)

Merry Cookie

Merry Cookie is the right choice for those who prefer a sweet-smelling candle to warm up their space during colder weather. It perfectly emulates the ambience of a warm oven and fresh-baked christmas cookies (without having to deal with all the dirty dishes)! So, if you love the scent of baked goods and holiday desserts, you’ll feel right at home with this candle burning.

(Scent notes: fresh baked cookies, sparkling sugar crystals, rich vanilla)

Winter Cabin

Winter Cabin is one of the most unique winter candles I’ve found! It’s another musky but warm scent, and personally, reminds me of cuddling up with a special cologne-wearing someone in front of the fireplace. Even if you’re happily single, the scent is still comforting without being overpowering for those who don’t like sweeter scents.

(Scent notes: winter air, black pepper, warm amber, cedar)

Hot Cocoa & Cream

Hot Cocoa & Cream is definitely an acquired taste for those who love the sweeter scent of chocolate. This candle’s meant to be burned on a cold day, when you want the warm scent of hot cocoa to float around the air while you wrap yourself in a cozy blanket! This scent is definitely not for anyone with a sensitive nose, but is perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

(Scent notes: decadent milk chocolate, fresh steamed milk, mini marshmallows)

Twisted Peppermint

Twisted Peppermint is a unique blend of fresh balsam and peppermint, along with warmer scents of vanilla and sugar. While this may sound like a strange combination, it provides the perfect scent that is light and fresh while still containing sweeter notes to tone it down. It’s definitely one of the less “warm” candles for the colder weather, but it still gives a holiday ambience with the refreshing scent of peppermint candy!

(Scent notes: cool peppermint, sugared snow, vanilla buttercream, fresh balsam, hint of musk)

While these recommendations only portray the tip of the holiday candle iceberg, they’re a great start to shopping this season. Whether you like sweet, musky, fresh or warm smelling candles, there’s an array of options just waiting to be explored, so best of luck in finding the perfect ambience this holiday season!
