The school year is upon us, Badgers. While it may come as a rude awakening for those of us who have experienced the joy that is living in Madison before classes start, the new semester also brings new experiences and challenges that are all part of being a Badger. Even with all of the wonderful things the school year brings— game days, Homecoming, new friends—it can still be hard to accept that classes, homework, and tests are about to begin. Here is a five-step guide on how to prepare yourself for the rollercoaster of being a student at UW Madison.
Step 1: Cry. Cry for the summer days that are gone. Cry for the all-nighters in the future. Just let it all out.
Step 2: Make sure you have everything you need for the semester. Being prepared makes the transition that much easier…and then cry at how much you just spent on textbooks.
Step 3: Dance it out. Worried about classes? DANCE. Stressed about homework already? DANCE. Dancing is the solution to pretty much everything.
Step 4. Organize your calendar with all of the days off school. That way, you can countdown to the next break! And then cry once you realize the next break after Labor Day is Thanksgiving.
Step 5. Suck it up. School is hard, but it’s also so worth it. Just keep your eyes on the prize…and have some fun along the way because you are all smart and awesome.
So, good luck to everyone as the semester begins. Let’s make it a good one!
