Keeping Up with the Badgers: Nebraska Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

If you didn’t make it to the game Saturday, here’s what you need to know to keep up with the Badgers!

On Saturday, October 6th, the Wisconsin Badgers hosted a Big 10 football game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at 6:30pm. The first quarter started out slow for both teams as the Badgers were the only ones to score within the first 15 minutes of the game. Unable to complete a touchdown, Wisconsin scored a field goal, worth three points, putting them in the lead with a score of 3-0.

The game finally picked up in the second quarter with the Badgers scoring 17 points and Nebraska scoring three points. Wisconsin scored one field goal and two touchdowns, while Nebraska scored just one field goal.

During the third quarter, both teams scored two touchdowns each, moving the score to 34-17, with the Badgers ahead.

In the fourth quarter, both teams were able to score a touchdown, but Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor stole the show by returning an 88 yard touchdown for the Badgers. The Heisman Trophy candidate helped lead Wisconsin to a 13-1 season overall last year, and is expected to do many more great things this season.

The game ended in a 41-24 victory for Wisconsin which included the honor of keeping the Freedom Trophy at Wisconsin. The win moved the Badgers to four wins and one loss, while the Cornhuskers are now stuck with a five game losing streak, further proving that Wisconsin is the ultimate red team! You can catch the Badgers playing against Michigan on Saturday, October 13th at 7:30pm!
