In my mind when March rolls around it’s spring time. I don’t care that everyone says March is the snowiest month. I’ve dealt with snow from October to February; I’m ready for sunshine and shorts to rule again. So let’s ignore our recent snowstorm and get ready for the lake!
Let’s start with the top of the hair: beach waves are beautiful, natural, and effortless looking. Since it’s the salt from the sea that causes these beachey waves, a trip to the lake won’t do much. Instead of buying a ticket to the beach or a premade spray you can easily make your own. Here’s a tutorial that only uses sea salt and water and another one that uses a few more ingredients to help prevent drying out.
For a swim suit, think about buying a printed top or bottom and then mixing and matching it with solid colors. Remember, wherever the print is the eye will be drawn there. Target, F21, Old Navy all have great options for inexpensive suits.
As a former employee of Old Navy, I can promise you those suits go on sale frequently, so wait till then to snag one.
If you don’t want to drive to the beach in your suit and are considering buying a cover up, I’d say don’t. An oversized t-shirt can be tied at the side or cut up. You can also just use a plain cropped shirt, too. Even a button up shirt can be tied up for a casual look. I can’t think of few situations where you can go around with your bare midriff without getting a few looks.
Now for pants? No. Take advantage of the beach ladies because there are not many opportunities for you to walk around in public pantless.
For shoes don’t feel like you need to use regular flip flops. Instead, you can opt for shoes that’ll actually stay on your feet as you stroll. I prefer T-Strap sandals to regular flip flops.
You’ve got your look. Now all you need is for the snow to melt.
