Madison sushi guide

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

Who loves sushi? Here’s the better question: Who doesn’t love sushi?! As a self-proclaimed sushi-lover myself, I have sampled many of Madison’s fine sushi destinations throughout my college career. In case you’re looking for some options close to campus, I’ve compiled a quick “sushi guide” for those sushi-seekers out there.

Sushi scene near State Street:

1. Wasabi – They offer various affordable options, and many specialty rolls. Although it’s small, it’s a great laid-back place to check out with a group or just a friend.

Address: 449 State Street Suite G, Madison, WI 53703

2. Takara – Takara’s dining area is a little larger than Wasabi’s; food offerings include hibachi (excellent!) and sushi (many specialty rolls). They also serve a long list of appetizers if you’re just looking for a quick bite.

Address: 315 State Street, Madison, WI 53703

3. Sushi Hut – This teeny place is tucked away and easy to miss. They have awesome signature roll options and boast about their use of fresh fish.

Address: 505 State Street, Madison, WI 53703

Sushi near the Capitol:

1. Red Sushi – The atmosphere here is definitely trendier, but the sushi is pricier. The menu includes many traditional and signature rolls. They even have one roll called the “lollipop,” with tuna, salmon, crabstick, asparagus and avocado wrapped in a cucumber slice.

Address: 106 King Street, Madison, WI 53703

2. Muramoto – This upscale, delicious sushi destination is a little pricier, but a perfect restaurant to check out for a birthday dinner or special event. They serve some delicious appetizers — crab cakes and Asian slaw are some of my and my friends’ favorites.

Address: 225 King Street, Madison, WI 53703
