That you need to listen to ASAP

With SZA’s recent collabs with both Drake and Travis Scott on their new albums, her features have been all the rage over the past few weeks. On top of that, she recently released an acoustic version of her popular song “Snooze” featuring Justin Bieber. I don’t know about you but ever since SZA’s second album, CTRL came out in 2017, I have been obsessed with her music, and my obsession has only grown since SOS was released in December of 2022. So whether you already love SZA or don’t know much of her music, keep reading to hear about some favorites that you may not have heard before.

“Used” ft. Don Toliver

As an avid Don Toliver fan, I was thrilled to see him featured on SOS. Despite there being many amazing features on this album, “Used” is arguably one of the best. With catchy lyrics from both artists, their energies complement each other perfectly. I seriously cannot get enough of SZA’s collabs with other rap and R&B artists.

“Awkward”

From the deluxe version of CTRL, this song is slow but so so so good. I absolutely love how much she takes her time with this one and sings in a higher octave. With a relaxing beat, “Awkward” is always on repeat for me.

“Smoking on My Ex Pack”

Contrary to SZA’s typical music style, this song on her newest album SOS deviates from her typical R&B style and instead embraces more of a rap style. Despite being a short song, she really highlights how diverse her talent is. This song is such a vibe and adds a nice contrast to the rest of SOS.

“Miles”

While I do wish this song was longer, it certainly remains one of my favorites. With lyrics about struggling to move forward and mature, this song has got me hooked. It’s on the deluxe version of CTRL, which as you can tell is a no-skip album.

“Love Galore (Alt Version)”

Also on SZA’s deluxe edition of CTRL, “Love Galore” was added as an alternate version, replacing Travis Scott’s verse with her own vocals. In this version, SZA sings about moving on after being heartbroken and working on yourself. Don’t get me wrong, I love Travis’s verse on the original, but the self-love lyrics in this version just hit different (no pun intended).

As much as I love some of her more popular songs, like “Good Days” and “I Hate U”, I can’t stop listening to some of her lesser-known songs. I hope you enjoy these as much as I do, because these songs, along with literally anything else with SZA on it, have been on repeat for me all year.
