It’s once again the time of the year when everyone start to get sick. The flu doesn’t discriminate — anyone and everyone can catch that nasty virus. Can you really afford to miss a few days of school right now? If you’re like most people, then probably not. If you have a weaker immune system or know you are prone to getting sick, then you definitely want to consider getting your flu shot today.
Here on campus, University Health Services offers free flu shots for all students. This is a huge benefit to students: instead of finding time to see your doctor, you can head over to UHS. According to UHS, drop-in appointment for flu shots run from Oct. 2 through Nov. 15, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All you need to do is bring your Wiscard and wear a short sleeve shirt or a shirt with sleeves that can be easily pushed up to the shoulder. Can’t make it during the drop-in period? No problem, all you need to do is make an appointment with UHS.
You’re not only protecting yourself when you get vaccinated; you are also protecting everyone around you. So make sure you show your family, friends, classmates, neighbors and even strangers some.
Get your flu shot early, though — it takes about two weeks after the shot for the antibodies to develop and protect against the virus. The needle only hurts for a second, and the pain only lasts a short period of time; so don’t let it deter you from getting your flu shot!
Getting vaccinated today, before the flu season really gets underway!
