Ranking the Waterparks in the Wisconsin Dells

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wisconsin chapter.

I am ready to share my controversial opinions on these institutions beloved by Wisconsinites.

Growing up in Wisconsin, visiting the Wisconsin Dells was a memorable experience. Over the years, I became familiar with the attractions that the Wisconsin Dells had to offer. I loved visiting Ripley’s Believe it or Not! I would look forward to enjoying a burger at Monk’s. Most importantly, I’d spend my days inside a waterpark. I’d swim and run around to the point where I’d be tuckered out that night, falling asleep with the scent of chlorine still in my hair. Today, I want to rank the waterparks I’ve visited. Hopefully, this article will bring back good memories of visiting the Dells if you also grew up in Wisconsin.

Chula Vista

Although I have some good memories here, I’m ranking this park last on my list. The indoor waterpark has nice attractions, but the other parks on this list offer a larger amount of attractions. When I last visited years ago, I remember the hot tub having an incredibly high amount of chlorine. If they still use that much, be prepared to have some irritated lungs if you go in it.

This park has an indoor and outdoor waterpark, and the indoor one is far better. I would only go to the outdoor one if it’s a pristine, hot summer day. If you want to do an outdoor excursion, there are better parks in the Dells.

Kalahari

Okay, I think this resort is more known for having a bunch of different attractions like a rock-climbing wall, an arcade and such. The waterpark happens to be one of the many activities that the Kalahari offers. That being said, I don’t think their indoor waterpark is that great, and there are not many exciting indoor activities. If you’re looking for a relaxing time in the pool and to visit a place with various activities, this may be the place for you.

I will give them credit for their outdoor waterpark. There are plenty of things out there, including multiple pools, multi-person rides, individual rides, a hot tub and a lazy river. If you’re visiting the Dells for a hot summer day wanting to buy a day pass, there are better parks for that.

Mt. Olympus

Nostalgia is why this park gets a higher rating. I remember visiting the indoor park during winter break when I was younger. I’m always impressed with how much you can fit in a small space if you have a bunch of slides at different levels.

I’ve visited their outdoor park once, and I thought it was also excellent. The wave pool was nice.

NOah’s Ark

This waterpark is only outdoors, and it’s perfect for those sweltering summer days when you need an escape from the heat. But, this waterpark isn’t great if it’s cloudy or rainy, and it’s even worse if you get cold easily.

Noah’s Ark offers unlimited attractions for all ages. They offer multiple types of rides and have two giant wave pools. You will never be bored here. If you and your friends are sitting around the fan, bored at home in the summer, this place is the place to visit just for the day.

Wilderness

This. This is the best waterpark resort in the Wisconsin Dells. It may not be fair to compare this resort to the other resorts on the list because they have four indoor waterparks and four outdoor waterparks. All of their waterparks are great, but the best ones are the Wild West (indoor), the Lake Wilderness (outdoor) and the Lost World (outdoor) waterparks. The Wild West has a fun single-rider black hole ride with colorful lights. The Lake Wilderness waterpark has lounging chairs partially submerged into the water, making for a relaxing time. The Lost World waterpark has a lazy river ride that moves you on a conveyor belt up to a slide. If you want a guaranteed good time, in the winter or summer, I’d visit the Wilderness.

I’m very grateful for the fun times I had in the waterparks of the Wisconsin Dells. This is a special city cherished by Wisconsinites far and wide.
