After ten seasons performing life-changing surgeries, surviving an abnormal amount of personal crises, and engaging in countless on-call room romances, our most beloved surgeon is leaving Grey’s Anatomy. Actress Sandra Oh will be leaving the show after this season, and the world will have to say good-bye to Cristina Yang. Though my fellow Grey’s fanatics and I are dreading the day we have to see her go (excuse me while I tear up from just thinking about it), I can’t help but think back on all my favorite Dr. Yang moments. Now, if I wrote down ALL my favorites, you’d be scrolling for quite a while because, let’s be honest, I have ones from every single episode. So I exercised all my self-control and did my best to narrow it down. Here are some moments of Cristina Yang, at her finest.
When she loses her eyebrows for her and Burke’s wedding (that didn’t actually happen).
Â
“Mama Burke took my eyebrows. She took my eyebrows, and now I’m a Burke.”
Â
Her post-wedding meltdown—one of Yang’s rare, yet extremely moving emotional scenes.
“He’s gone. I’m free.”
Â
The time when she understood that ultimately there is no better way to solve your problems than to dance it out.
Â
After asking herself “pig or cow?” all day, she eventually decides to use a pig valve on a gut-impluse in her first solo cardio surgery (the reason I add this one is because now whenever I have a difficult decision to make, I ask myself “pig or cow”)
Â
When she saved Derek’s life despite having a shooter hold a gun to her head. Â
Â
Â
Her make-out session with Owen over the vent that made every other make-out scene appear subpar at best.
Â
Her brief stint as a bartender, which was proof that surgery was the only job for her.
Â
Â
The time she made her and Owen’s wedding even more perfect by wearing a red dress.
“I’m not wearing white. It’s sexist and vaguely racist.”
Â
Â
Â
When she promised to take care of Zola and “the fetus” if anything happened to Meredith or Derek.
Â
But also proved that her and children aren’t the best combination.
Â
And last but most certainly not least, when she declared Meredith as her person—the Twisted sisters have survived everything (literally everything) side by side. Â
Â
When it comes down to it, we all have a little Cristina Yang inside of us, and that’s what makes it so hard to see her go. She has shown us that although love isn’t easy, it’s worth it, and taught us to never give up on our dreams. She’s proof that you can get through anything with your best friend by your side.
We love you Dr. Cristina Yang, Seattle Grace Mercy West hospital will never be the same without you.
