Do you like music? (It’d be kind of strange if you didn’t, but whatev).
Do you support education for all women? (If the answer is no, I’d start figuring out time travel really fast because you don’t belong in 2016)
Are you free this Saturday night? (If you aren’t, you’re about to be).
Our friends over at She’s the First are hosting their Spring Music Showcase this Saturday April 16th, featuring an exciting lineup of musical performances, delicious appetizers, and an open bar.
If you’re sitting there thinking, “Well this sounds pretty sweet, but what heck is She’s the First, and why do I care?” allow me to fill you in. She’s the First is an international organization that is dedicated to supporting and sponsoring the education of women in low-income and developing countries. The UW-Madison chapter raises money to send girls to school in Guatemala so they can become first-generation high school graduates.
All proceeds from the event will go to the organization so they can continue to sponsor and further the education of the girls in Guatemala.
So now that you know what this organization is and the cause your money will be going towards, I imagine that you’re already in the process of purchasing your tickets right now.
But if that’s not the case for some reason, let me give you a few more details that will help you go from “interested” to “going.”
· The event will feature performances by Madison Malone, Seasaw, and Sam Sardina.
· Tickets cost $12, which give you entrance to the event, appetizers, and raffle ticket to enter to win one of the many glorious prizes.
· You get access to the open bar for an additional $10 donation.
· Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the event starts at 7 p.m.
· There will be an open bar—just wanted to reiterate that point.
· This night of music, eating, prizes, and (one more time) an open bar, is all to help girls cross the globe go to school so they can have a better future.
You can find the Facebook event here, and tickets to the event can be purchased here.
So invite your friends, roommates, parents, classmates, distant second cousins, Tinder matches, the random person you met at 3 am at Wendy’s last weekend—bring anyone and everyone to this fabulous event for an even greater cause!
See you all this Saturday at the She’s the First Spring Music Showcase!
