Winter has come a little early this year and let me tell you, it never gets any easier. I always feel unprepared when it starts dropping in temperature. If you’re still compiling all of your winter gear, here are some essential items to get you through the season.

Coat

A coat seems to be obvious, but it’s essential for winter. A heavy coat is the most important component of your wardrobe in the wintertime. The best coats are the ones that also cover some or all of your legs.

Hat, Gloves, Scarf

These three items may also seem obvious but are crucial for winter. A good hat, a pair of gloves and a scarf are necessary to keep your head, ears and hands warm during your trek outside.

Boots

The last most obvious item is a solid pair of boots to make it through the snow and ice. When you’re walking to class, it’s important to have a pair of boots that are warm and durable, not to mention stylish.

Sweaters

Sweaters are the ideal clothing item for fall and winter. The more sweaters you can get, the better. They keep you warm and are easy to style for the winter. A good alternative for a sweater is a cardigan to layer with some of your warmer weather clothes!

Chapstick and Lotion

When it gets colder, the air also gets drier. Your lips and skin will probably start to get chapped, so get stocked up on chapstick and lotion.

Travel Tissues

Carrying some tissues with you could never hurt. It is especially handy when you get to class and can’t stop sniffling.

Fuzzy Socks

A good pair, or more, of fuzzy socks can keep you feeling comfy when the temperatures drop.

Travel Mug

Having a mug you can take with you to class or work can be useful when you drink coffee or hot chocolate. It can also help you warm up after a walk outside.

These items should help you get a good start on your winter essentials for the long road ahead.
