Light patterned scarves always add a bohemian touch to warm weather outfits. But with colder temperatures approaching, many swap those floral gems for knitted accessories and heavy layers. Before you stow away these summertime favorites, try out a few ways to incorporate them into your winter wardrobe.
 Â
1) Headband: When it’s almost time to run to your 8 A.M. class, don’t fall into a slump of messy ponytails and updos. Using a scarf as a hair accessory can add some interest to your hairstyle and tame a bad hair day, too.
- Take a thin scarf and fold or twist it horizontally to a desired width.
- With the middle of the scarf at the nape of your neck, tie the two ends in a knot above your forehead.
- You leave the knot like this or even fashion it into a bow. Otherwise, if you want to hide the knot, twist it back to the nape of your neck.
2) Belt: If you want to liven up an outfit, use a patterned or colorful scarf to pull together a simple look. While more interesting than a traditional leather belt, this can still define your figure.
- Choose a scarf that compliments your outfit.
- If you’re wearing pants, thread scarf through belt loops and tie in a knot or bow by your hip.
- If you’re wearing a dress or skirt, find your natural waist, fold the scarf to a desired width, and tie behind your back or at your hip.
3) Turtleneck: Your scarf can still keep you warm in the colder weather. Just twist one or even layer a few in a faux turtleneck style.
- Twist a scarf the long way.
- Wrapping it around your neck, tie the ends into a knot.
- Tuck the knot underneath.Â
4) Handbag: Add a fresh twist your TWAMP prep style by using a scarf as an accessory to a fall handbag. Tie it in a knot or bow and you can easily revamp an old bag into something more eye catching.
