It’s been a little over a month since school has started, and the freshman class is finally getting used to their schedules with clubs, sports, and classes. I thought why not ask them about campus life so far! I interviewed various newbies on campus, and they had a lot to say about what they thought of the college experience so far. Here are a few of their perspectives about life at William and Mary.
I Like…The William and Mary Welcome:
Some freshmen like, Rebecca Youngdahl, love the fact that the Tribe Community is so open to new faces. Youngdahl added, “It’s been going really well. I’m having a lot of fun getting involved in different organizations, and everyone is very welcoming.”
I like…The Fact that I’m Finding Myself:
Other freshmen like Jessica Colbert commented, “It’s a welcome change. My classes are actually challenging me, and I feel like college is helping me to find my identity.” College, and our campus especially, contains opportunities to find out who you are and what you want from life. If there is a question in your mind about who to turn to, there are so many places to find a helping hand.
I like…The Relationships that are made:
Whitney Fields took another view, “The best part of college is forming bonds with the people around me, especially my hall mates at Hunt Hall. I know our friendships will last throughout college and thereafter.” Making friends is so easy here because we all have that sense of Tribe Pride and we all care about the well-being of fellow students. The Tribe stands out from the rest because we are essentially one great, growing community.
It’s so easy to see that freshmen love their new lives on campus. With so many opportunities to meet people and stay involved with different activities, William and Mary is starting to feel just like home. To the class of 2015- welcome home!
