The first moment I knew I was a member of the Tribe was walking down the steps of Wren to a sea of people eagerly waiting to give me high fives. Convocation was truly the marker at which I felt like I was a real student at the College of William and Mary. All the smiling faces in the crowd were happily welcoming me into their community, a word that I don’t take lightly. When I decided to transfer, I was anxious about how I would be accepted, and if I could really find the college experience I was looking for. And let’s be real: transferring is not an easy process. I found it terrifying having to “start over” again, and second guessing myself about the decision to transfer didn’t help either. But all the stress, worrying, and anticipation were worth it in the end. The folder in my acceptance packet said, “One Tribe and Now It’s Yours.” I knew this was true as I walked across the Sunken Gardens, into the student body of my Tribe.
