The campus community has been celebrating the university’s 325th birthday. This week, I saw many sweet smiles, which reminded me of a lovely quote—“The best things in life are sweet.” I could not help immersing myself in the following sweet moments during the Alma Mater’s birthday.
1. “Happy Birthday, dear William and Mary!”
On Charter Day, I felt the warmth of the birthday song our community sang to WM. At lunch time, students and dining staff gathered around two beautiful cakes at the Center Court. The lovely choir sang nicely with several outside the Court joining in the harmony.
2. Swemromas

I love libraries, but I do not like drinking coffee. Swemroma’s created an enjoyable combination of my like and dislike. Every time I stepped into Swem, the fragrance of coffee embraced me, gently switching on my study mode.
3. Candies in Class
My AMES professor surprised me with candies twice. Before class got started, she shared a full bag of candies with us. Let’s call AMES 250 a sugary class with sweet knowledge.
4. Odes to Vegetables

My professor for creative writing brought different vegetables to class. We were working on odes, and everyone got one piece as the subject of the ode. A crazy fan of chips and fries, I cut my potato to explore its inner beauty. Oh, potato, I adore you!
5. Thanksgiving Fridge
After my roommate left the dorm for home during Thanksgiving, she sent me a message, which warmed my heart and stomach. “We left food for you in the fridge.” She left a full fridge of food ranging from homemade chicken to cereals. I really wanted to thank her family and her for a millions times.
6. Tribe Pride
Slogans of Tribe Pride fueled me in Orientation. During that period, rain and walking exhausted me, but the energetic OAs cheered me up by hall slogan games. We got tribe pride; yes, we do!
7. Campus Walk with Ice Cream
I do not think I can elaborate on sweetness of this moment. I cannot think of anything sweeter than walking around such charming campus while having smooth ice cream!
8. Writing in Sunshine
Last week, I completed my Her Campus writing at the ISC. Sitting by the glass wall, I reflected on my favorite festival (Chinese New Year!) and the gentle sunshine embraced me. Her Campus, holiday memories, and sunshine soothed me that afternoon.

Writing lovely moments strengthens sweetness, and I will keep tracking them every day. Reflect on your sweet times and record them! A journal, a conversation, and an Instagram hashtag (#sweetWM) will work! Last but not least, happy birthday to William and Mary! WM gave me the sweetest memories and I want to congratulate WM with my sweetest wishes!
